Jock itch fungus is not uncommon at all. Treatment is is over the counter meds with little worry of any sort of bad reaction. Same bugs as foot itch. Get some jock or foot itch cream and apply to a clean area. Give it 3 days to kill the fungus and allow the skin to start healing up. Cut out all the other stuff. You can't wash the fungus off it lives between the skin cell layers and is protected by it from mechanical removal. Scrubbing using harsh methods often only exposes new entryways

Do you have a latex allergy? Some bibs are sewn with a latex thread and if you're allergic will cause the same symptoms.

2. Topical steroid cream applied liberally to the offending area.
If that doesn't work, 3 shots of whiskey and call your doctor in the morning.
Actually, call your doctor regardless... You might have one of those Zikas or something on your butt.

BTW, you said it's the hairiest area... you may want to consider trimming, not shaving, all that.
Shave it and dirt, sweat and what not get ground into the pores and the hair growing back and curl and become ingrown shaving bumps.
Don't trim it, and the long hair pulls and tugs and pulls and tugs and you end up with hemorrhoid like symptoms.
Just get a cordless rechargeable wahl or , slap a #2 on it, and go to town. Gently of course.
Something like this: Wahl Lithium Ion Clipper #79600-2101
You can also trim your legs and arms and chest (etc) so you can not look like a gorilla without shaving or waxing.

Before I discovered mine was due to latex allergy, when the jock itch creme was not helping I tried Monistat for the ladies as it had a much stronger dose. The clue for me was red rings on my legs under the gripper in hot weather. Steroid cream fixed the symptoms.

It's probably fungal. Try a cream like Miconazole. Works for me. Also when you shower, wash your butt and crotch with a dandruff shampoo like Selsun Blue, green label. Then it won't come back. I wash my whole body with the stuff - it's easier, quicker, and works great.

Yes. Go to drug store look for jock itch or athletes foot cream. Read the ingredients and don't bother with the tree hugger all natural or homeopathic stuff. $4 and done in a few days.
I use to work in health clubs and would get the fungus funk on my feet and once on my knees from some funky carpet while working on treadmills. I transferred that bastard of a flaky itch to my man bits by accident "Itch like a mo fo" is a good discription. At first I tried stuff others recommended not knowing what I was dealing with and suffered longer than need be. The OTC stuff knocks it right out no muss no fuss

Over-the-counter and generic. Miconazole nitrate 2%. BTW, your post is entirely reasonable. It took me years of seeing doctors to figure out how to deal with this. I finally ran across a dermatologist who knew what it was and how to deal with it. It is a cycling problem and relatively rare among the general population. Put the miconazole on morning and evening and after using the restroom. The problem should be almost gone in a couple of days. The shampoo is to prevent recurrence.
