Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Saw this in Bimidji.Lot bigger than it looks in this photo. Passed through there riding across the country. Spent a total of 2 weeks in MN. Second most number of days in a state, with MT being the first.

Not my photo. I was shooting B&W. Here is one with a bike showing scale.

I never get the phantom pages anymore. Not sure why but guessing it depends on computer/browser/OS?

I only see phantom pages on a select few very old, very large threads.

Like the "Wacky World of Craigslist/eBay" and "eBay/Craigslist Finds: Are You Looking For One of These" over in C&V.

Well, I think that there are two issues: phantom page and locked last page (until the user posts). Phantom pages are a site thing, I think, when a number of posts are deleted, and independent of browser, etc. I don't know what the deal is with the locked last page, but it's only happened to me on the computer and running Chrome (I'll have to remember to try another browser when it happens again).

Oh, FWIW, I see that I've had 4 or 5 replies to/quotes of me deleted in the last 24 hours - if they all came in Addiction, this could be a part of the phantom pages that LoP saw (those deletes came shortly after my covid-19/coughing on the potus post, so not a big assumption that they're related).

I haven't seen many of the big dumb, fun roadside MN attractions. We did run across a big dala horse last year (I'll have to see if I took a pic), but I can't think of any others.

I remember riding by a restaurant in the middle of nowhere that was shaped like an alligator or something like that. I know I took a photo of it but I am not going to hunt through my boxes of negatives to find it.

I’m having problems with Chrome and, I think, Safari, and mostly on the desktop.

Since I got a paid membership and lost the ads, the forum format seems pretty well behaved to me.

Coincidence? I think not.

It seems like C&V is the only really active one, though.

As far as ads, I use adblock all the time so my overall internet experience is almost entirely ad-free.

If you are not seeing the ads from Bikesdirect, you may be missing out on the DEAL OF THE CENTURY!

I will say, every once and a while I look at the Mercier Kilo WT and start thinking about how fun it would be...

If it had cantilever brakes or discs instead of sidepulls the temptation would probably be too strong
