We've put our kitchen reno on pause for now (though we're doing most of the work, we'll need to contract out some stuff and we don't want to start down that road for various reasons), but I remembered that I had a fancy, touchless kitchen faucet sitting in a box in the basement. I had proposed installing it straightaway when we got it a few months ago, but the Mrs opposed, saying that she wanted it pristine for the new kitchen. Now, with all of the hand washing going on, I figured it would be a good idea to install it and the Mrs agrees. So that's what I've been doing this morning - installing the damn thing.

But these things never go 100% smoothly. Never. It went about 90% smoothly, but then I found that the supply lines are just a wee bit short. I'll have to take a trip to the hardware store to get the kitchen sink up and running again.

My cat wants to play fight as soon as I wake up. He's 19 pounds and has sharp claws so this can be a problem. Once I get up he wants to go outside and eat a bunch of grass so he can come back in and throw up.

Yep, and when it rains he tries to drain all the puddles so when he barfs up the grass it's very wet.

Your video clip reminds me of a weekend I spent in N'awlins some time back. Street musicians not only played their instruments but put on a visual display easily worth the small contribution the public would make. They brought eyebrows, eye balls and their entire bodies into the performance. I love the place.

Well I got the word today that our business is considered essential as we serve the electricity industry. So I got that going for me. Which is nice.

I think we're still going to go ahead and be cautious with our money and try to put some more away. Maybe up the mortgage and student loan payments again in june/july depending on how things go.

We got a gadget of sorts - the Bissel spot-bot (pet version). Essentially it has two tanks - one filled with a cleaning solution, the other tank is where it puts stuff it sucks up. It sprays the cleaning solution on where the pet made a mess, and then you use the thing to scrub and suck up the excess liquid. Repeat until clean. It does a really decent job of cleaning up cat barf on rugs and upholstery. I had to get it out over the weekend because a cat had barfed in my chair in the living room.

A couple of years after I graduated (1983) Deerfield announced it would go co-ed in the near future. I went back to the campus a couple of times after that happened (including twice for D2R2, which is a mostly dirt randonee ride that starts just outside of the center of town), but it was strange seeing girls there for reunions when I attended my 35th in 2018.

Another strange thing is that just a few miles north of its fairytale-like setting is the town of Greenfield, which allegedly has the highest rate of opioid addiction of any city the state. Meanwhile, the school was building a new athletic center, compete with a new indoor hockey rink, that was expected to come in at $78 million dollars. Most of that was donated by one anonymous donor. My guess is that it was King Abdullah Al Hussein, who was in the class of 1980.

As far as I know, the park is still open however. If I feel like cutting out of work early, I might take a bike ride up there later.

I was up there 2 weeks ago - a big chunk of beach is closed to humans and dogs due to nesting birds. But at the time the rest was still open - there were may be a dozen people that I could see on the beach within a mile of me, but it was still kind of cold. Once the weather warms up enough, I expect lots of people will want to venture out, and I have no doubt that the rest of the park will be forced to close to limit the crowds.

I was really looking forward to going. A few years ago I did four-day trip down there. Rode from just across the river from Philly to Belleplain State Forest in Woodbine, NJ on a Thursday. Friday I rode to the ferry to Lewes. Camped for two nights (rode around the park and then down to Rehoboth on Saturday for lunch) then rode to Atlantic City on Easter to catch the train back home to Philly. That was an epic day as a storm moved in Saturday night. Bucked a headwind and intermittent drizzle all the way up the coast. I nearly quit an got a motel room in Ocean City, NJ. But I got some good eats there and pressed on. NJ announced that the campground at Belleplain would be closed for a while, and the ferry stopped accepting foot traffic last Wednesday.

Same with us. I never even meet my new appointment anymore, I just talk to them over the phone while they stay in the parking lot. I thought clients would raise their hackles at that but they've uniformly just been grateful that we're able to see them at all.
