1960 Raleigh-Built 3 Speed "Popular Special Sports Model"
Saw this at a garage sale and it was just too nice to pass up. But given that my collection already includes four other Raleigh 3 speeds, I can't justify keeping this one.
Bike was clearly built by Raleigh, and is branded as a "Popular Special Sports Model." Almost identical to a Raleigh Sports except for different rims and aluminum (gasp!) brake levers and calipers. Serial on the seat lug is "15307 RA" and the 3 speed Sturmey Archer hub date code is "60 3." Typical 21" frame size.
Has a couple little dings on the fenders, and a few scratches on the paint (most notably on the seat stays where it looks like a rack was clamped on at some point). But other than that, it's in remarkably good shape for its age. Like-new Kenda blackwalls, and I've installed new brake pads and cables.
Listed locally for $160, I'll sell to a bikeforums member for $140. Located in Northeast Ohio and very strongly prefer a local sale.
