Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thanks all!

It still needs a bit of work before the HorN thread, but let's not talk about how much I've spent on bike stuff in the past month, I could have probably bought a small child on the black market.

I like the old stuff. My former living room had 4 sets of racks on the walls, and I kept two bikes on each rack. On one was a bright red '84 Pinarello Record, with the Campy two-tone record group, below it was a Pinarello SLX with a 8 speed Record kit.

Another rack held a 531 steel Trek 660 with a Nuovo Record kit, below it was a De Rosa with Record/Croce de Aune (no accent marks on my Japanese keyboard ).

The third rack held an old candy-apple red Atala SL, with old Campy Gran Sport bits, above it was an ancient Bianchi racer with the old Campy chainstay shifted mech.

Last was a 71 Paramount with Record bits, and the newest bike of the bunch, a Gios Compact Pro, with a Record 9 speed kit.

Of all of them, now I have only the Gios, it was the only bike which I bought new, and was the original owner.

Obviously I love steel Italian bikes (old Trek and Paramount withstanding), and Italian components. Now I live in the motherland of many things carbon fiber, and of Dura Ace, but I will never succumb.

New saddle. Wonder why they stopped making these- damn comfy for the weight. Feeling like I finally have this bike sorted. Until i motivate getting the NOS shimano 600 stem on there that is.

Fuji is just about done as well. Had to snap a photo today when I dropped off the dura ace crankset for it.

The green on that GEOX Team bike doesn't really show well. The photo doesn't do it justice.

Excited on how that will turn out.

Will take proper photos once it's back in the stable. Just picked up a new saddle for it, hopefully it matches...

Not much choice when you need to get the frame replaced under warranty. All Performance is doing with the new frame is putting my old parts on it. I will be bringing it home and restoring it to its former glory.

I've gone through a bunch of pre-1988 chromo road bikes (couple Schwinn World Sports and a Bianchi Sport) but this is my first nice, non steel road bike that isn't older than me! There sure have been some technological advances since then...

Since when did Walmart start selling Park Tools?
I wish our Walmart up here sold Park Tools.

Where do you get the idea this shop is "Walmartish"?

Love them or hate them, it's kind of hard to deny that Performance Bike is the Walmart of bike shops. They're the largest bike store chain, tend to be of lower quality and higher volume, etc.

He knew it was Performance because the Spin Doctor degreasers and stuff are their house brand.

We don't have any Performance up here, that's why I had no clue.
Hence my question...

Yeah Performance is the walmart of bike shops, but I will give credit to head mechanic and manager at the store I go to, they're great guys and know their stuff. Plus when I bought the Fuji originally, the price was right, so I went with it.

Here's my 2014 Spesh Roubaix SL4 Comp Ultegra C2. The last bike I had many years ago was a Jamis satellite, I treated myself since I'm getting back in to cycling at age 53. Came in Friday, picked it up Sat and been riding ever since! Sorry for the poor quality pics.
