Tektro 1990's Brake Cable size
Does anyone know what size brake cable to order for Tektro Brake levers (R 317A from the 1990's)?
I just want to verify its 1.5 mm (with respect to the mushroom ferrule)
Thank you in Adavance

It's 1.6mm like pretty much all brake cables. ANY standard mtb brake cable will work.

Brake cables have a little bit more diameter variance tolerance then shift cables do these days, as brakes are still not indexed. The MtB end diameter has been fairly consistent in it's diameter for quite a number of years although early 1990s Shimano MtB levers sometimes had larger the usual fittings for the cable ends. These levers would come OEM with a thin brass shim to fit the cable head in the lever hole. I suspect it was to reduce the head's friction within the hole, not that this was an issue with previous levers... just Shimano probing the design aspects I felt. Andy

The brake cable is on 2006 Langster with only a front brake
I know I should just take the front brake apart and measure the ferrule, but the brake cable is in bad shape...
Got it adjusted just right so if I come down a hill fast iI have faith in it so I didn't want to disconnect it
Guess I'll have to do it.
