Personal Opinion Thread. What are you biased about?
This is just a general idea I had. I see posts some times for or against one style of bicycle or another. I am just wondering, what do you hate or love and why?
This is not meant to be a flame thread, I am hoping to keep this a civil discussion.
As example, I love hybrid bikes, they seem to be the best of both worlds of usability and utility. My 2006 Trek 7500 has changed my life for the better in a myriad of ways. I am also interested in touring style bikes and light touring. This is all tempered by the limitations of my heart and lung condition.
How about you?

What am I biased about? Purt near everything.
I think the world would be a better place if cars weren't the one size fits all transportation and that good public transportation was more available.

Used to love road bikes - now I pretty much hate 'em. Mostly because the most recent generation of carbon framed go-faster machines seem to be driven by some of the rudest, most self centered cyclists on the planet. There's several professional race tracks here in Montreal and weekly road racing events on closed circuits. There's absolutely no reason for groups of roadies to treat a bicycle path with a posted speed limit as a personal race track. There are kids and beginning cyclists and roller bladers there too - if you wanna pretend to be Joe Racer - drive in the street.
Used to love long rides with a few buddies - it wasn't just about biking - it was an excuse to drop by a few cafes, check out the scenery, spend some time at the marina checking out the deck ornaments .... it was a fun way to spend a day. Today too many cyclists seem to think that when they get on a bike - they have something to prove. Maybe they do because they ain't all that fast anyway.
Comradery among motorcyclists has pretty much died and cycling seems to be taking the same route.

That's just great, OP. Stir up the crotchety old men.
I, personally, am biased toward all the good looking women I haven't known carnally.
Yet.

Steel > Aluminum. CX bikes > Flatbar hybrids. Trigger shifters > Grip shifters. I'm sure I have other bike related biases, but those are the ones that come to mind.

Reading a book on an electronic screen. That makes no sense to me. I like the feel and smell of books. They don't need recharging, and I can exchange them with my friends. You can also inscribe them when you give a meaningful one as a gift...

Single speed > everything else.
Helmets are over rated. Eye-protection is more important. IMO

I have a lot of revenge biases.
I ride a recumbent and I'm not very fast and I'm old and and I'm fat. All the people who I sense are biased against people like that - you're on my list. I'll keep watching and listening until I find something about you not-to-like.

I'm eerily afraid of RetroGrouch and want to state for the record that slow, old and fat men on recumbents are officially okay...

Being Fredly. I like riding my road bike in baggy mtb shorts.
The whole Light Beer thing, imsho what BMC has done to the American beer industry is borderline criminal. If they spent one tenth on brewing a decent beer that they spend on slick marketing convincing people that what they're selling is what beer actually tastes like they'd be putting out some spectacular product.

An Aussie took a tour of the Coors brewery and was given a cold glass of beer at the end of the tour. The tour guide asked what he thought of Coors beer. "It's like making love in a canoe" was the reply. "What?" the tour guide asked? The Aussie replied "It's f****** near water".

As for bias: I'm biased against the Trek brand. Not that I think Treks are bad bikes or that I have even a tiny negative thought about anyone who rides them - I don't. I've rented Treks many times, and have had fun on them.
But I just can't stand the brand - the name, the way they market, the way people actually think it's somehow objectively better than anything else, etc. And this goes back to the very beginnings of the brand, what in the 70s? Just a gimmiky brand name and just rubs me like fingernails on a chalk board.
Irrational bias, no doubt, but the question was asked!

I don't like the endless quest for more gears and less weight, at the expense of durability and spiralling costs. Some of us want simpler parts that don't cost the earth. I also dislike the wilfully ignorant.

I'm biased for step-through frames. After riding Zoomie and being able to get on and off so easily, I very much hated the higher bar on a freebie mountain bike I rode for a few days when I didn't feel like fixing Zoomie's tires.
