My Unicorn as arrived. 753 Lejeune

After 15 plus years of searching, I found and purchased a Baco built 753 Lejeune. Unfortunately it suffered damage during shipment and will be going out in the next week or so to Jack at Franklin Frame for repair. As part of the auction, I was able to also score the bits that were special to these bikes. Ti bottom bracket, Lejeune panto stem. I have most of the other items I need. Earle Young has built a set of SSC Bleu rims laced to Mavic 500/501 hubs and they should arrive shortly. The story I was told is that this was a special order and a similar 531SL bike was ordered for the wife. Unfortunately the seller did not have a chance to buy the 531 bike. I will likely assemble the bike just to ride it once before it goes to Jack.

Nice to see a really special French bike that's not the usual Peugeot, Motobecane or Gitane for a change!......

Reference ride. Smart move.

Nutted fixation of brakes? or recessed?

No extra braze-ons... nib under as a shifter stop?

Brakes are nutted. No shifter stop. I waded through the Classic Rendezvous archives and found the post where I shared the weight of the 753 Raleigh Team Pro I once owned. Both weigh the same with a fixed cup. 1580g

I find I need a 27.0mm seat post as the previous owner was using a 26.8mm. Measurement of the tubing tells me 26.8mm is wrong.

I am looking forward to riding this. I recall the Raleigh as being lively.

what a beauty, congrats! I hope the damage is minor and the repair doesn't damage that paint!

I think that was part of his point.....

Billy Goat Bicycles has a 531 Motobecane I'm looking at.
Simply for that....and it's my size.
Haven't been Frenched since I built a UO8 mixte.

OP, we need to ride in this little city.

Dent in TT. Not major. Franklin Frame says it is no issue structurally and can be easily repaired. TT will get matched and resprayed. Refund from seller just about covers it.
