Hello from the Oregon Coast

Hello everyone! I'm an aging cyclist located along the Oregon coast, and I enjoy bringing new life back to older steel-frame road bikes.

So far, I have rescued, repainted, and rebuilt three older bikes, including: (1) a 1984 Miyata 912 (rebuilt and ridden in the Eroica California rides); (2) a 1985 Trek 420 (set up with a "moustache" bar for short rides around the neighborhood); and (3) a 1988 Trek 420 (set up with rack and panniers for overnight touring).

I have learned a lot by reading through the advice and guidance offered by the members of Bike Forums, and appreciate the tips and sharing of expertise.

My next project is to repaint and build my old 1963 Bianchi road bike. I'm just getting started on that project and will post photos as soon as I am cleared to do so.

Looking forward to sharing that rebuild as I work through the process.

Welcome to Bike Forums. Years ago we visited Newport. Beautiful area. Good luck with your Bianchi project. I can't wait to see it.

Where are you on the coast? @fietsbob is an active member in the north. Astoria?

Enjoy the road.

Thanks for that nice welcome, and the weather here along the central OR coast is splendid right now for a bike ride around the bay or down Highway 101. I'm looking forward to posting and learning from the Bike Forum members as I work through the restoration process for the old Bianchi!

Yes Goonieville was shot up in Astoria at the mouth of the Columbia River.

I'm down on the central OR coast (Newport, Waldport Yachats) where our claim to movie fame is "Sometimes a Great Notion"
