Why, yes, yes I do. It always seems to be a headwind, too. :-)
A bit more seriously, there is an almost constant wind out of the west (on-shore). It there isn't, it is usually a Santa Ana wind from the east.
prevailing wind, noun,
The usual wind in an area or region — used to refer to the direction of the wind.
The prevailing wind in this region is from the east.

It's a freshwater pond from a creek flowing out of the hillside but it gets brackish from time to time if there's highsurf since it's only a few feet from high tide - but isn't a tidal pond. Basically if you go into the parking lot At Golden Gardens and keep going north till the pavement stops, you're at the pond and the (now) otter is usually around along with about a million ducks and a gang of canada geese.

Finally some blue skies and an AQI under 100 in SF. Happy to be back on the saddle today.

Thanks. I'll check him out next time I'm over there. Years ago at one of the year's low tide days, I did some tide-pooling on that side of the park and saw a bunch of cool stuff, like urchins and nudibranchs. It's a nice park during the week before the crowds take it over on the weekend. Supposed to have clean air on Thurs.

Air quality has gotten better the past few days so I've been out twice.

No. A prevailing wind is a wind that comes into a region from a particular direction, and is usually timely and expected on an annual basis (whether its common all year or just seasonally depends on local weather conditions). Sailors have long relied on knowledge of prevailing winds to navigate throughout the world. The Santa Anas, the Bura in the Adriatic, whatever... Many strong and consistent prevailing winds have names and are even associated with myths and legends due to the way they characterize local phenomenon.
A headwind is simply a wind that's coming at something in the opposite direction of motion - a tailwind accompanies motion in the same direction. A prevailing wind can be either, depending on whether you're going towards or away from it, just as any random gust of air can also be a head or tail wind for the same reasons!
Cheers!

(p.s. I like wind a lot... Maybe because it's such a elusive thing here on the east side of the San Joaquin valley.)

We're now in the 150-160s right now. Still bad, but not 190 or 200 or more. I'll be out of town for a few days coming up, so hopefully when I'm back, it'll be at 100 or less because I am missing riding. And feeling not groggy.

Yeah, crappy times for sure, once it rains this should really start to turn around.
The air index is whack, goes down a bit then way back up, not even getting below "VERY HAZARDOUS", WTF never thought I would see such a thing in Oregon but here we are.

You know it’s bad up here when you look south to LA for clean air.

AQI good today on the SF Peninsula, and a buddy called out for a 20 mile'er before dark. So glad!

I was thinking 150 might get me out for a quick ride. I don't know what happened today. We started out below 200 but now it's back to 324. I'm pretty sure the air quality is over 200 inside my house this evening.

Glad to see more folks are able to get outside without much risk.
Checked this morning (as of 5am PDT), and S.F. itself looks to have PM2.5 in the single digits. Congratulations, for folks who've been coping with air quality fifty times that over the past couple of weeks.

Welp, the sun’s up, and so am I. Can’t ask for much more than that, huh? Except maybe a nice Italian roast coffee, and a bowl. 😎😁😎

I'm trying to be disciplined and nose-down at work for the next day or so to make room for a Friday afternoon ride, hoping the air quality will hold. I might have to block this website from my browser temporarily...

Yes, I am travelling to that area. Want to join and have some BBQ. Me and my friends are preparing the BBQ chicken. Tag along and have some with me.
