I just bought this bike to convert to my winter bike. I've seen this paint job before and I wonder what the brand might be. The Shimano stickers are just that, stickers. Anyone have any ideas? I researched and found that Deore XT for MTB was around '84. This has a 6 speed freewheel.

Nice! I see lugs, so maybe the folks in C&V can help you. The seat post clamp also looks pretty unique...

I'm wondering if it's a Giant.

It originally had center pull brakes, that much has been updated. I'll take a picture of the head badge soon but it looks like someone reapplied the decals.

Would it help if I said the serial number on the BB is T8641? Should I look elsewhere for more #'s?

As others have said, if you want an answer, you need to post these pics in the Classic & Vintage subforum.

From a quick Google, it seems that there were some Shimano frames that were built for them by other frame mfg’s; Panasonic is one I saw mentioned.

DeoreXT is good stuff. I have the original box and paperwork for that derailleur system. I save it on the shelf.

That group has value to the C&V guys (I am one). Winter in your area will trash components and frames. I ride a 89 Trek Antelope in the snowy regions of N Lower Michigan. Have a great winter!

Thanks OldsCOOL for the wear and tear info, I'm in Columbus, Ohio. I'll put this on a medium burner, I paid $200 to just get the set so I'll keep looking. Should I just find a big box mtb bike, keep searching the Craig's or convert an old mid '80s road bike I have for a winter rider? Oh "the horror."
