Bar tap for an 84 Fuji Team

The bar tape that came on the bike looks like it may have been the original according
to the photos I've seen except it looks a lighter blue as if it's faded over the years.I'm
not sure what it's called but I had some on another bike It's very thin and almost
translucent .Should I try and mach the original or throw on some blue cloth tape
that I already have?

It's called cello tape. If you're a purist, it can be found here:

Well....are you going to ride the bike? I opt for comfort over proper looks on all of my bikes to include a Team Fuji I had.

I went with a yellow synthetic cork tape. Looked great and felt great out on the chipseal roads.

I vote for Fizik yellow bar tape. That year's Fuji Team colors are excellent.

I don't remember the Fuji Teams coming with plastic bar tape, though that could have been a change for '84. Previous to that, original bar tape was adhesive-backed cotton---Fujita, I think.

IIRC, the lowest-end Fuji models at the time had cheap plastic tape. Went to cotton for sure by the Royale, maybe Grand Tour as well?

I vote for light blue cotton tape. More practical and comfortable and IMO looks better. Still very appropriate for 1984.

Original was cello tape or maybe fake cello tape. 1983 was the last year for cotton, at least for this model.

There are old catalogs online here: https://classicfuji.posthaven.com/archive

+2 for the yellow cork tape. (well, this isn't a Fuji, but it just looks right on the bike with a yellow headtube and lettering...)
