kmc z410 for a timing chain or other recommendations?
Sheldon Brown's website seem to recommend track chains for timing chain. My local store has some single speed kmc z410 chains for a good price with assorted color combination. Any reason 2x of these joined by the included quick links is not a good choice?

You can certainly do that, and it will work ok. There are track riders that run 1/8” chain on 3/32” cogs and chainrings, so nothing super bad is going to happen. The chain does wander around a little on the rings, which probably will make them wear faster. If it were me, I would match the width to the chainrings — either get 1/8” rings for the timing chain or use a 5-8 speed chain for 3/32” rings. KMC Z51 is still available, and it’s fairly cheap as well.
