dang, that hand truck story, full props! and the crescent wrench! i heard Hinault use to train for TT races by putting a 14 inch crescent wrench in his jersey,
this haul was a few weeks back, a brand new stainless steel juicer, big enough for grapefruits,
and we also scored some free CD's,
most of this stuff comes from "free stuff" boxes along the road.

I found a shackle once, while riding at night. Found it with my front wheel. The pin was missing, it was perfectly positioned to capture the tire, and perfectly sized to jam onto the tire and rotate up to the fork, collecting the front fender on the way.
I imagine it was worth $2.

Scored a lawnmower yesterday. Same as mine, thought I'd bandicoot it for parts, turns out to work better than the "good" one, so it's now a keeper and the old mower goes out to the holiday shack.
I also once found 20kg of sashimi grade tuna in a bag, still with ice packs. There was a fish seller reasonably close. reckon whoever it was got for a restaurant, left it on the roof and drove off. I waited for a while to see if they'd come back, then ate tuna for days.
Got a nice step ladder once too. Needed some slight panel beating but I still use it.
Got a 20m roll of 4" subsoil drain too, bounce off a truck, had to walk 200m back up the freeway to get it though.

That tuna might have been flown in from Hawaii, overnight shipping, super expensive, probably a 400 to 500 score!
A group of rock climbers I use to hang out with would hold a "Shushi Feast." at various locations, sometimes Joshua Tree, or Cochise Stronghold or Moab etc. Each climber would pitch in about 80 bucks for all you can eat shushi, The guy would have a load shipped in from various places, when he told me how much that stuff costs I couldn't believe it.
Popular among climbers who want max protein while keeping their weight down.
Good for cyclists too!

Last year I found a 100 Yuan bill on the side of the road. Worth 25 USD at the time. Not too shabby for a 3 mile commute to the doc's office.

I've found the following in the roadway:
- Numerous sockets, snap-on ratchet handle, generic ratchet , pliers, and wrenches. I only pick up the metric tools.
- Hunting knife
- Folding knife
- Utility knife
- Checkbook which was returned to owner
- Pair of decent sunglasses
- Wallet containing $40 returned to owner.
- Wallet containing $20 Euros while riding through Spain. It was in the "secret compartment. The rest of the wallet was bare. It is a nice wallet.
- About 20 boxes of toilet paper that must have been from a truck accident. I did not take any
- Zipp carbon front wheel. I couldn't find owner.
- About $5 in change scattered in a small area on the road shoulder.
- $20 bill.

I once found a plastic dinosaur toy, I have found several baggies of weed and pills (thrown out by drivers when they pass a cop), a High Point 9mm handgun, and a Tag Heuer watch.

A new-in-unopened-box Dewalt oscillating saw. I already had one, so sold it on CL after advertising it on the Lost & Found on CL.

my old battery wall clock died about three days ago.
up pops this guy on today's ride. works perfect, no more batteries to hassle,
looks like it was in an office building when people still smoked.
have not seen a continuous motion second hand in quite a while.
tried using Comet and sandpaper but the Pall Mall non filters have done their dirty work.
solid steel, even the face plate. painted on numbers.
weighs about 50 lbs, pulled a right hammy gettin her home.
bike frame was creakin, like Steve Bauer's bike when he is doing a sprint.

Glad you cleaned up the trash, High Points are terrible litter and from what I have seen even worse handguns. The weed and pills could be sold to probably at least one mechanic at the local bike shop (or traded for parts or labor) and the Tag Heuer watch could be pretty neat. The real score is the dino. "Clever girl"!

My best find was a Raymond Weil watch this spring, valued between $800-$1100 but sometimes on sale around $400. I posted notes, put a thing on the FB page near the neighborhood, and emailed Raymond Weil with serial numbers, nothing. Its mine now.
I've found random useless stuff before but if it's not something I can use and is better than what I already have, I'm not going to stop.

I found this last night. A bit awkward on dirt roads. But I got it home, and got it working.

love those clocks!
yeah, Nature was the handle of the guy who put on the Shushifests., at least on the Supertaco forum which i miss,
rock climbers are always finding plenty of free booty also, stuck cams, slings, crash pads, hash pipes, (probably Bridwell's)
here is today's booty, 3 organic protein bars, good till july 2020, so naturally i ate them as an experiment to see if organic food products will kill you or not,
a bath towel that will be cut up for bike shop rags, two bags of bread products to feed the crows on the way to work, a cookie cutter, a book that is in the can already, a cool ashtray for holding ball bearings during repack, and a basket. and some Citronella incense sticks for those special evenings,

Lots of hiking boots on a local canyon road with a lot of adjacent trails. Hikers likely took off their dirty boots and put them on the roof of their cars then drove off. I have still not found a pair of 13E's for myself though. Some day. . . .

Found money now and then, sometimes tools. Once I found a side pack from someones rear rack and it had some nice cycling tools , tube, patch kit , even a Brooks saddle wrench. I posted on lost and found Craigs list and no answer so I still have it. The best was a woman! She was walking and had tripped and was just sitting out in the middle of the orchards bleeding, not bad but it needed a patch . I stopped and asked if she needed me to call someone and she said no, just needed a band aid or two to cover the cut on her leg. I gave her my water bottle (spare one), band aids, and went on my way. When I got home I was telling my wife about my ride, I always show her the things I find on my travels . I told her I found a woman , but decided not to bring her home!

I've picked up lots of tools, haven't bought a bungee cord in years, erosion fencing for my yard landscaping fabric. Best scores were 1/2" Milwaukee corded drill, complete set of craftsman ratcheting SAE wrenches, $20 bill, and cast iron grates for my weber gas grill.
