Yeah, everyone was desperate to buy a bicycle this summer here in NYC because no one wanted to take public transportation due to Covid. I sold a few myself. The really amazing thing was, once I noticed it and started looking for it, how many deals I saw going down on the street. It was really a magical time for cycling enthusiasts/advocates like myself, with so many more riders out there suddenly. I'm still not sure how I feel about bicycles being used in protests--another new development here this summer--but that's an entirely different subject.

Maybe they had like 8 flats in a row, like I did the other day. That'll make me throw down pretty much any bike, by the time I finally get home.
RIP Helen and Mac Davis, they passed on the same day 9/29, bonafide titans of the industry.

The first thing to catch my attention was how it was originally listed way overpriced instead of just overpriced. Unfortunately I always find more ads where someone doesn't know what they have and overprice it than they don't know what they have and underprice it.

Bicycle stand with wheel truing mount - $50

https://chico.craigslist.org/bik/d/o...215398439.html
It's a creative use of scrap metal, I'll grant this person that. Doesn't seem like it would be very effective as either a workstand or a truing stand though.

Not sure what's going on here. The Circuit debuted in '87, I believe. It had brazed dt shifter mounts. And were the rear drops ever labeled Tange?

It's sort of a kit.

... Suntour Spirt front derailleur.
The perfect bike for the Spirt.

But needs a suspension seatpost for me to take it seriously.

Or maybe a 'recoil' seat post, since it's a Mossberg?

It looks like that Circuit has a Shimano 600 Arabesque groupo, which IIRC stopped being sold in 1983.

Simplex Cycloďde 'Kruisframe'

Now this is hardly a weird one but just a fun bit of bicycle weirdness of the Dutch second-hand market.

This is a Simplex Cycloďde Tour 'kruisframe', also known as a Pastor's bicycle, cross frame, X-frame or 'Kreuzrahmen' in German. It's one of the oldest bicycle shapes and an alternative to the classic diamond frame.
They were common from the early 20th century but after the 1930's most manufacturers stopped making them. with only a few still making them.

Compared to the US bicycle prices are fairly cheap on the Dutch second-hand market but these, fairly heavy but stiff, frames can go for well over €1000 (~$1200) sometimes.

Currently at €550 but not sold yet. 3-speed Sturmey Archer (?) with drum brakes.

Simplex Cycloide kruisframe 1957

I'm grateful no pro team ever rode those, they'd all have to sport beards, robes, and sandals (not very aero).

The rear wheel skirts count as aero, don't they?

My brain had to reset, trying to count/picture all the polygons described within the frame geometry.

Pour one out for another fixie bro victim. I just verified with the seller that he chopped off the derailleur hanger and shifter bosses. At least it’s a Chromor frame and not top of the line.

I dunno, maybe my definition of "wacky" is a bit skewed, but here is something you definitely do not see every day. A Colnago, but with STEM SHIFTERS. And Turkey Levers. And it looks like it was actually designed for them. Wow, i had no idea anything like that even existed. Nice fork though.

It's got tri-bars and a water-bottle; that makes it a racing bike, right?

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-road-bike/re...ike/1530662683

probably worth the asking price, though...
