same thing I usually eat. This is the long distance forum, and pre-ride breakfasts are quickly forgotten over the course of the ride as on-bike nutrition becomes more important. The DC randos used to start a lot of rides next to a Waffle house. I found that if I had time to digest before the start, that an All American Breakfast worked pretty well. But by 50 miles, that's all in the past.

I just have a bowl of oats and some fruit. Most of our rides start at Tim Hortons so mediocre baked goods are sometimes eaten just before the start but I've also had good luck not eating until I've started riding. I just like to eat so I usually get some food in me beforehand.

Coffee and a sandwich. Maybe a cereal bar or biscuits instead, depending on what's available.

I do not race.

Within a couple hours before a long bike ride i try to avoid too many fats, an eggs and sausages type of meal is one that i would avoid. Just about anything else works.

This works.

But, I pedaled a bit slower than normal after the meal in the photo below, that many fats will slow me down.

I've read that a pre-race meal should come three hours before the start time, following by (perhaps, if necessary) a small energy snack right before the gun. Want to have the big meal digested before starting an event. However, that's not practical if your event starts early in the morning, and is probably moot if your event will last all day.

And, as Tourist in MSN wrote, avoid lots of fats - go easy on the meats and eggs.

I don't race, but I've done a number of centuries. About two hours before a century, I'll drink my morning coffee (a must), one serving of oat meal with some salt and no sugar, one egg and one egg white. Not too much fat, some easily digestible protein and slow releasing carbohydrates. Sometimes I will substitute quinoa for the oat meal. This seems to work the best for me.

Are you going to have to deal with it later? I found a huge bowl of porridge fuels me well but I'll have to make an extended and urgent stop early the next morning.
So if I'm going to be riding the next morning a liquid breakfast works well.

Before my long rides, I like toast with cheese.
