Tern and Bafang (M400)
Tern used to use only Bosch, last year or so they put a Bafang M400 on the entry level Vektron ... this model year there seem to be 5 models of Vektron, 3 of which are Bafang based (but none of the cargo bike configurations). Anyone know anything more (rationale, observed reliability, etc.) from a user, dealer (or any Tern designers lurking?).
Inquiring minds and all that. I did buy my son a used bafang based Vektron late last year, he likes it very much. I was impressed at the overall feel (I'd expected it to be much less "polished"). But he hasn't put that many miles on it (yet), and I've been mostly on my Stromer ... so I have little hands on or time based experience to share.

On yer bike
Not sure where you're located (different countries bring different models to their markets), but the Bafang M400 versions have been in Tern's line up for a few years now. Tern actually had Bafang bikes (BBS01 Link model) even before they started with Bosch. I'm sure they exist purely for price point reasons. They operate fine, but nothing beats Bosch's service and support.
