if I didn't ride my bike because of wear & tear, it wouldn't be worth having a bike. lots of things damage our bikes, so what? just enjoy, clean, dry, lube & repeat!

yes it will, effectively you'll be grinding sand paper through your chain. If its salt water sand it'll also damage the frame, while the sand will be hard to seal out from the hubs, headset, bb. But people run them all the time down by the ocean around here and they will still last a long time. Chain, chainrings and cassettes are wear items, just replace them more often and enjoy the ride.

It won't necessarily "damage" the chain, just have it wear out quicker. Use a dry lube then clean and re-lube after every ride

I don't have a lot of beach sand to ride, but gravel sand ... I do a lot of that. Sand is damaging, but clean up after a messy ride and re-lube. I use T-9 on my chain, does well in tough conditions.
Reference, here's a pic from the 2018 Filthy 50, 50 miles of gravel roads in 30F and snow/sleet/ice/rain. A year & 1,100 miles later, I'm still using this chain.
