Contrary to what seems to be the 'standard', chain tension shouldn't be tight. My chain tension is optimal.

No visible slack doesn't mean tight. But if a slack chain works for you then great.

Picked up a Kona Paddy Wagon from my LBS about a month ago.
Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic, hopefully snap some better shots later.

No plans for upgrades at this point. I picked up some orange cork tape, might swap that in, but for now I like it as is.

Haha, that boggled my mind when I was told that at the track, but hey, no need to skid/hop on the track! lol. =)

I don't skid, so I choose to have a properly functioning drivetrain.

When they're brand new, I was rather surprised at how slack the chain tension can appear to look and the drivetrain still operate very smoothly under a dead stop load to accelerate and even maintain the higher speeds. Down the road, the chain might get too sloppy, but that'll be an adjustment, maybe even replacement then.

digital

film without a scanner

plus the darkest part of the burke gilman inbetween fremont and u district. you know, the part that always smells.

plus the MTE sf-15 on 15hz strobe

this thing is GREAT i had to file down some of the connector because it was starving the emitter for power and causing it to get real dim... now it flashes probably about 500 lumens for dayzzz

actually i do, that's the gomeansgo.org 9to5 spokecard. i only ran it for a day or so. i don't like advertising that i'm a crazy hipster wannabe, but i had a great time so i ran the spoke card for a day or two.

and yes, the P7 emitter is pretty much as much light as an older car headlight(just one) and it's a handy torch with rechargable 18650 batteries so i can carry a few extra batteries and have enough charge for all night. dealextreme has huge quality control issues though, so while you can get this light for 30 bucks or so, you have to know how to fix electronics if you're unlucky like me and get ones that don't quite work perfectly out of the mailbox.

this lamp is the same emitter as the magicshine headlamp, but a different reflector and of course, no corded rechargable battery pack... it's just a flashlight. i have a swivel mount that has rubber straps to hold it to the bars. it's BRIGHT as hell. people don't know what the hell i am for the first few seconds they see me. pedestrians usually are more startled than cars, but even in day light this thing lights up all the reflective signs for blocks and blocks. at night it turns any street downtown into a techno club. seriously, the street signs reflect bright light for about ten blocks.

Then you would benefit from a properly tensioned chain as well.

Why are you so worried about my chain?

BTW - adriano's chain is just as "slack" as mine. May as well tell him all about it too.

I run it slighty slack as well,
Track dude a couple of pages back sez less friction,
I just think it feels better.
I have no prob dropping the chain, and I run over lotsa bumps here in NYC.

Adriano,
what do you have the right lever connected to?? I cant see it clearly in the pics.

Scrod,
if I had to guess what type of person rode that Maddy I would have never pictured you!
Too white Matchy Matchy man!
Yu need a Murdered out ride w/like RASTA pedals straps!

Looks to me like a big ding-dong bell, mounted on the left fork leg.

I know, right? My wife says that about the Madison too. I do think it kinda suits me, though. I love it.

I recently got ahold of a black front Aerospoke for really cheap (75 bucks barely used!) and have been wondering what to do with the damn thing. I've been toying with the idea of picking up a black Pake frame and building it up mostly all black with some subtle rasta accents. I think you just helped me make up my mind. At any rate, the chain will most likely be too slack on that bike too.

its a little more slack than ive run in the past, but it feels buttery and has no dropping issues.

i did indeed engineer a lever actuated bell.
