Can it be a vintage conversion?

I have a 1974 chrome paramount and a 1976 PX10 frame at home.

I can't think of any vintage bike I'd want. Not even the GT Super Bike. Super cool...but I don't want one.

3 Modern Bikes:
- Custom Tiemeyer (got one) (Note: Mr. Tiemeyer was on the team that built the bike above for the 1996 Olympics.)
- Felt TK1
- One of those British National Team bikes with the custom bars (all unavailable to the public) see below.
- Look 496 (honorable mention)

I had the same thought about the wheels...

I think they're tubulars though.

Yeah, they are CXP33 tubulars with Dura Ace hubs. Those are training wheels. All racers (even road racers) train on such wheels and save the carbon bling for race day or special training sessions that require them.

I doubt so, he's more or less a weapon, on the track.

I love how your upper body is stationary and your legs are probably spinning really fast and you don't seem to be having trouble at all...

Technically, a vintage bike is over 25 years old. I don't wish to own any vintage track bikes, however, I do actually own one that I bought new. It's a 1976 custom sized Schwinn Paramount P14, that I raced for 30 years before buying a 2006 Pista Concept. It's all Campy Record pista components, except for the pedals, which I changed out to clipless. The bar and stem are Cinelli and the seat is a Selle Italia Turbo. It's my current dedicated roller bike.

...been obsessing over pursuit frames from the late 80s recently. Oh, virtual top tubes.

But then, practicality and realism ensues.

"vintage" be damned.

if we're talking "not a pista or a leader" then:

1. gan well pro evasion

2. cherubim pista
https://www.cherubim.jp/images/product/pista_big.png

3. and a nagasawa. yes, any nagasawa.
something like CWMD's https://www.flickr.com/photos/dancing...7622769588706/ preferably. or another gan well pro.
if we're really talking pre-85, i'll take a cinelli a merckx and a waterford. maybe a davidson instead of a cinelli, i dunno.

Err, "fishnet fade paint scheme"? Maybe some mascara drips on that bad boy would make it complete. And definitely a colorful scarf on wrapped around the top tube.

Sorry, I know we got this far without a 'faggin' joke, but.........

I had a Benotto modelo 850 with blue and white Fishnet fade paint. It was super sexy.

My top three would be:

70s Schwinn Paramount
80s 3Rensho
90s Yamaguchi

I don't have many vintage frames that I lust over but I do want a late 70's Raleigh Carlton Track or a Vitus 979 track frame.

I agree with this as far as track bikes go....vintage track bikes look different than modern track bikes, and some modern ones are made of different materials altogether, but mechanically, nothing has really changed, so I really don't see a point in desiring a vintage track bike, except perhaps for sentimental value.

Road bikes, on the other hand, are a different story. I recently acquired a mid 80s lugged Columbus tubed crit bike with a 6-speed Shimano 600 group. Its fun to take it out on occasion, just because its mechanically quite different from my modern bikes, but honestly, I really don't care what brand of vintage bike it is...its really just all about the experience or riding something thats works a bit differently.

I have no real need or desire for vintage bikes but here are three I find most drool-worthy:

not quite "vintage" by definition but

Naturally, I'd put risers and Aerospokes on all three.
