Not a good option at that intersection. Glen is one of those old Dutch Roads from the late 1600's that can't get much wider. If I remember right, it was the early 70's when they took the wide-single lane of east-bound Glen and split it into two by adding a turn lane. I don't think they have improved that side of the intersection much since (and certainly not since September when I was last there.)
Cyclist should have kept the lane and not filtered.
A girl I liked in Jr High lived on California St.
I grew up on Hillcrest. Parents still live there.
btw - Why did you drive instead of bike?

The reason I didn't cycle, is because I live in the crappy part of Paramus near the Garden State Plaza Mall. That's a pretty good haul from California St. I had a lot of other things to do that day, so I just didn't have the time.
Did you know that the bike trail in the Saddle River County Park now extends from the duck pond in Ridgewood, goes through Paramus, Fairlawn, Glen Rock, Saddle Brook and ends at Railroad Ave in Rochelle Park? If you do the entire loop, including the side trails, it works out to about 18 miles.

$250 bucks for a scratch on the mirror that is on the underside (if I read the OP's description correctly).
Buy the man a bottle of Cadillac touch up paint... less then $10 at the local auto parts store and get on with life.
Assigning such hate and rage to a paint scratch is just ridiculous... I have to wonder what happens when the auto owner parks at some mall and some clueless new teen driver whips open a car door into that Caddy.
Sorry car owners... try not to get so emotionally wrapped up in your "transportation... "

That's why it's called an accident.
I do however agree that the cyclist should have at least said "sorry."
But the flip side is generally motorists assign too much "ego" to their car.

Wow. I have not posted much but have been reading Bike Forums for a while now and have gotten a lot of good info that I have been able to use. Thank you for that! But as someone new here, I have to say that bigoted rants are all over this forum. I have found the A&S forum to be particulary helpful because as someone who is relatively new to sharing the road as a cyclist with cars, I had a lot of questions about how to do it safely. The information is here but you sure have to wade through a lot of 'cyclists are morally superior' BS to find it.
Just an observation from a newbie.

You're daddy's whiny blitch, yes you are!
Man up and wack the fracker next time, joisey goil. I know a great place on Freylinghausen near Newark airport where you can dump the body.

Thats a good point. I guess people need to keep in mind what forum they are on and keep all of the bigoted rants directed towards the correct side. i.e. 'fat** cagers', 'idiot cagers', etc.

An interesting and probably little known fact is that out of date jerseys and over runs show up rather cheaply at times. Thus they show up in odd places. Including on the cheapskates like me.
This is a most entertaining thread that provide insight into the deeply irrational and bizarre, self-justifying thinking that lies behind much of the jerkwad behavior I see on the road.
I just like to get from place to place without fuss.
Again, distinguish the various events and offenses. They aren't necessarily connected. Eye for an eye isn't the law.

Fissile, chill man. You're alive, the guy is alive because you didn't kill him. Don't wish bad stuff on people. That's bad karma.

This is from a few pages ago, but i'm confused about one thing; everybody says pulling up to and pacing the cyclist is aggressive and provocative, and suggest instead for the driver to tell the cyclist to pull over? From the cyclist's point of view, I fail to see how the latter is any less intimidating (especially since he'll have to pace the cyclist to get him to pull over in the first place).

man, fissile, calm down, threatening bodily harm (hyperbole I'm sure, but still) does nothing to further your case here...
Having said that, this thread is chock full of yet more examples of the biker superiority complex that plagues cyclists: It doesn't matter how wrong the actions of a cyclist are, those acts are ALWAYS forgivable because cagers suck.
Sometimes I get the impression that if cyclists could achieve perfect safety on the road for all cyclists by being polite to cagers, they'd choose instead to retain the dangerous status quo instead because darnit, CAGERS SUCK!
