Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Chrome wear

Does anyone else in here wear Chrome gear? I have a Chrome jacket (Champ), and it's very well designed. I thought it might be a little hipster-ish, but it's so well done (plus I get it at ~cost), I tossed any pre-conceived notions aside.

Yea or nay from you of the Assos crowd?

I have the Chrome loop knickers that i use year 'round. Use them with just underwear in summer and then have tights on underneath in winter. Great pants. I use them for commuting btw.

I don't wear any chrome gear right now, but I lust after their shoes. Specifically the SPD compatible Kursk, in red.

FYI, I have the Midway shoe and blew through the heel within 6 weeks. Wasn't impressed.

Other than one of their messenger bags - no. I'm 54 and gave up hipster in the early 70's.

You sure they're SPD compatible? Just looked on the Chrome site, don't look like it to me.

They have some nice stuff. I've been meaning to try a pair of their knickers for some time now, but I can't squeeze that in my budget right now. I have one of their roll-top backpacks and love it.... only complaint I have about it, if you can really call it complaining: it's kinda big for the limited amount of stuff i carry in it.... Though, and I hope not to sound Too much like a hipster here, it does fit several 12" LPs comfortably for when I go record shopping.

I don't have any of their clothes but I do have one of their messenger bags (Citizen). I ordered it from them a couple of months ago when they had a 50% the entire order coupon avaiable. The bag is awesome.

I've always found their stuff pretty unimpressive for the cost, but if it makes you happy don't worry about it. I've given in to the idea that I'll always look like a complete dork on a bike, especially in winter.

Cutter clothing has been on Bonktown.com recently, same priced knickers and jackets, but for much less on Bonktown. I got some knickers and they are pretty sweet.
