I probably assembled that exact bike. I worked at WOB from 1972 to 1984. The third ownership (1984) was intolerable. Started out in the assembly department. We would repack the bbs in all the better Raleighs. Gran Sports, Competition, Super Tourer, International, Pro. We found the shell was full of brazing residue (looked like croutons) that got shaken loose during shipping. The Carlton factory did not rinse out the frames after brazing. Shop policy was to car wax all the new bikes. Turns out the old wax was beeswax based and it turned yellow after a couple years and the white bikes would turn yellow. Easy to clean and off, then wax again with a modern silicon based car wax. It really showed on the white Gran(d) Prix model. I also learned to install tubular tires on the race bikes without making a mess. The red Clement glue was the best but could really get all over everything in the hands of a novice.
I sold another Grand Sport to my cousin. Some 12 years later I saw her walking it down an Iowa City street because the front wheel was pretzeled. A stupid frat boy tradition was to jump on bikes in bike racks and trash the wheels. Never leave your bike between the down town bars and the frat rows. The U since replaced all the bike racks on campus as a result of that behavior. Anyhow I popped the wheel back straight enough so she could ride home. It's in Denver Co now.

Gestalt Haus, Fairfax CA…go ride Tam, then go to the bicycling museum, walk over to Gestalt for a beer and sausage, and leave with a shirt (I have no connection to the business). Shirt may not be vintage but the bar is the site of the original Fat Tire Trading Post! Borrowed photo, had to crop as wearer is well known…

I have some cycling t-shirts that I wear a lot, and they depict C&V-type stuff (Reynolds 531, Cinelli), but they aren't particularly old This one is. Coors Classic c.1986. I watched the TT and the criterium stages in San Francisco. Hinault ultimately won the race and was pissed as all get-out at Lemond for trying to get payback for Hinault's TdF shenanigans. The shirt is a bit small for me (one too few X's in front of the Large) and has thus languished at the back of a drawer for decades. Literally decades.

Love this thread, and as a Tucson resident, glad to see love for Bisbee Bicycle Brothel. Ken shows up at our GABA bike swaps here with the most interesting bikes. The patina on some of these t shirts is just perfect! I wish I could post some of mine but I've got to work up to 10 posts before that can happen. I'll check back when I can add pics.

Sadly don't have it anymore, but one of my faves I wore to death was the Cyclocross natz, when it was near Seattle, maybe about 1990? It had a fake warning sign, something like "DANGER, HIGH-SPEED MACHINERY, FLYING PARTS", then the whole front and back of the shirt, from the neck hem to bottom hem, was splattered with gray-brown paint meant to look like mud, in a pretty realistic splatter pattern like riding a knobby-tire bike thru mud without fenders. Believeable enough that some people didn't want me sitting on their furniture or even coming in their house. (Of course that happens to me anyway sometimes even when wearing any other shirt!!)
Wifey just looked over my shoulder as I read this thread, and dug out some of her old ones like from when she raced at road natz, Seattle '77 and Milwaukee '79. Sorry no pics, she immediately put them back away.
I always wear mine to death and then use them as bike rags, not a collector.
