My COLNAGO bike (Real or Fake?)
Hey gang, per some suggestions in another thread, I'm posting here to see if I could get some concrete info on a bike I just purchased. It's a Colnago but I don't know enough about the brand and how to spot a fake or the real deal.
Looks like "Colnago" are decals but it does also have the Colnago logo and name actually in the metal.
Pics below if anyone wants to help me play detective. Thanks so much for your time!

I think it is the real deal an '89 'Mountain Master Deore XT SIS". Can you post some more pics of the frame? Especially that tubing decal. Is the tubing round?

That is a cool bike and from my position of almost no knowledge of Colnago mountain bikes would guess that is real and real collectible.

The Colnago looks like a road bike converted to a mtb. Most mtb bikes have sloping top tube, and should be shorter(stand over height)for off road, if you have enough distance between your crouch and the top tube (about 2") is should be ok. Still a nice bike!

The rear frame triangle and chain stay brake mounting say it was made as a MTB. Something I've never seen before, so I'll have to plead ignorance.

MYBs didn't all have sloping toptubes until about the mid '90s, just the smaller frames.

I seriously doubt that's a "converted" road bike. Road bike would have caliper brake drillings. This definitely looks like an early Colnago mountain bike... something I know nothing about!

Looks like it could be either of these from Colnago's 1988 catalog. Note the fork crown, paint details and even the oval logo in front of "Colnago" on the down tube. On the OP's it says "Mounty", funny, but maybe that is what we're seeing in the catalog pics.

Check along the top tube - heck, all the tubes - and see if you can find a Gilco Design S4 decal denoting the tubing. But based upon what I'm seeing, it appears to around 1985-1988.
