Well, for me , a Bike Forum purchase a few years ago. When I reached full retirement age ,part of my first mailbox check contributed to the purchase of my 1975 Colnago Super. All the way from Maryland to Southern California .

My first ride . It was during COVID so when I asked a young man at the beach to take a photo , I put the mask on, hiding my smile
At that time , the only pump I had for the bike was a chrome Silca from my ItalVega. This bike was pretty much out of the box , adjust , and ride. No suprises …other than how truly wonderful that ride is.

I think I have cyccommute beat. Rodriguez welds up bikes from tubes in their basement just like all the cool Colorado companies do. It sure is nice being able to shake hands with the guy who created your new friend from nothing but a vision & a torch.

I've got a couple of bikes from France via eBay, so nowhere as far as some of the above.

I bought a Paris -Sport though from someone in a village a few miles up the road from here - I've wondered since I bought it how it made its way from the USA to end up in a shed in rural Somerset.

This FW Evans was originally sold in a shop on Kennington Road in London. At some point, it traveled across the ocean and found its way to central Alabama. That is where I found it and brought it back to Ohio. About 5000 miles all together.

FW Evans as found in Alabama

FW Evans as ridden all summer

Trek is about 50 miles away from my house.

But I bought a TX700 from a nice young man in Ohio- so it went from right over here- to way over there... and then back to here.
