I'm slow though. Your one leg 20 minute power is equal to my two legged.

Meh, it is a confluence of factors that are resulting in doing less volume than I typically like to do. Fortunately focusing on quality seems to be working for me. I am going to step up the volume a bit, even if it's tacking an hour or two of "junk" miles onto the end of intervals.

CTL topped out at 85 on Sunday, now I'm on a rest week and its going down. CTL is always funny math since different software adds it up differently.

I've also started counting the calories; its painful right now but I'm down 5 pounds with 5-8 more to go. Last two nights I've woken up early and hungry.

Just loaded Trainerroad for a one month trial. Looks very straightforward, which I like. Let’s see how it goes.

Love it! I keep my basement window open and in the coldest days of winter I can get it under 50. As someone who does mostly indoor work, I kind of love winter.

I'm on an easy week between plans, 90mins z2 today. For me, it was kind of nuts to be over 200w and have my HR under 130, which for me is when things are way easy

It's not uncommon for the temps in my garage to be in the 50s during the winter, but I still find I need fans to blow the heat off me.

ZCI™s this morning. Averaged 330W (fits 328W FTP result from MAP test two weeks ago).

Clearly on a threshold plateau. Probably time to move to VO2Max and AWC intervals for a bit. If racing picks back up in Austin, it will be in Feb - April -- time to get moving. I haven't raced since ~2012.

Thanks! Good to see familiar "faces" in here. I think it will be good to get back in here and see that others are still doing this nonsense too.

Awesome. I've been incorporating ZCIs myself lately. I love/hate them so much. (And nice to see you back on BF).

Feeling out the new (-ly configured) TT bike last couple days. I've spent ~100 min over the last two days in position at varying SST wattages, 10' - 25' at a time. Today I ended it with 10' at (road) threshold which felt good and it was fun to actually go fast.

Outside of that I'm just trying to get used to the position again while producing some semblance of power. It's been a rough start - yesterday I could only remain comfortable for 10 - 15' at a time, and my sole 20' was pretty rough at like 60w below FTP. Today I did a 25' that wasn't so bad.

Folks love TR, but their biggest 'competitor' so to speak is Sufferfest and you should check out their free trial as well so you can see which one suits you better. I'm in the SUF camp for now, partially because of cost (it's cheaper) and partially because I like the shenanigans since it makes the time go faster for me. If you're looking for something straight up serious then TR is likely for you!

How does one set up said zwift races? I'm paying for it so I might as well do those once in a while when I'm bored or want to get in some intensity. Sigh.

Go to zwift.com/events, or, if you have the companion app on your phone, you can go in there and click events. Lots of races throughout the day, zwift has their own series that they put on in "crit city" that take roughly 30mins, other events generally last up to an hour and on weekends they have longer events like fondos and such that are kind of race in the front and party in the back

RTC I use Zwifthacks for events. When I do longer rides on Zwift I often do one or more group rides to pass the time.

Where do you sit with the entire shorter cranks on TT bike philosophy.

I bought into it, currently running 165 mm. I haven't done any empirical power testing vs longer cranks (came with 175's...) but it just kinda makes sense RE: hip angle. When I sit up and loosen up the hip I feel less constricted with my power output. Shorter cranks is another way to accomplish that.

I may also experiment soon with actually raising my position a little bit for the same reason - more power. The power testing is easy, but I still need to find somewhere around here that I can do Chung method testing so I can ballpark CDA with different positions and helmets, etc. My (TTT) teammates can help me with that, I just haven't gotten to it yet.

Yeah, he's doing great. This morning was more of a recovery JRA ride (e.g. we stopped at Donut Taco Palace for breakfast on a 1 hour ride). Funny thing: there's a morning loop I've been doing over five years, got my PR in 2016. This morning he and I traded pulls and I got my 2nd best time, and we weren't all the way opened up. It's awesome to have a 15yo kid who can take pulls on a 24mph loop and retain composure. He did the loop at threshold though, and I ended up at 90%, so we need to balance durations a bit better (60s/30s this morning -- maybe still a bit steep for him). It's awesome though, b/c that will cover him for Cat 4 and <16 Juniors race speeds, if racing ever starts up again.

Did the Trainer Road ramp test tonight. Thought it might be lower than my recent outside 20 minute test, but this was even lower than expected. I guess I’ll go with it.

1x15 + 1x20 Thursday. 2x40+ yesterday. Probably 3x20+ today with accelerations? Then tomorrow mindless spinning. Progressing well.

All trainer which kinda sucks, but I am flying through Deep Space 9 and absolutely loving it!

I hang out on the TR forum quite a bit, people love to argue about whether the ramp test works for them or not and what the "best" protocol is (one faction are adherents to the Kolie Moore FTP test which is a TTE effort). Anyhow, maybe you can set yourself closer to your 20min outdoor result and be ok. I know I always crap out on the ramp, I kind of just play things by ear and eschew formal testing these days
