Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I’ve never wanted to be with a woman who is tougher than me (and that is setting the bar pretty low). Sounds like good crew though.

I ride with a guy from Sweden and can confirm Europeans much less uptight about taking a leak. Just be discreet.

Was riding country roads a few weeks ago, and one of the guys needed to pee. He stopped at what looked to be a wooded fence line, and started to go. Just as he was about to whip it out, the “lady of the house” showed up on the other side of the fence and asked if she could help him. Found it rather funny as there wasn’t a house or building within about 500 yards.

Occasionally, I trade in electronics online to get money for something new. Often, the quoted offer is downgraded when they inspect your device. They always seem to have a reason. It’s part of the game.

Last Monday, I sent an iMac to Apple and got a notice yesterday that my offer had been revised because the condition of my iMac was different than I had described which I expected would happen. I go to their site and saw that they had upped the offer by $50 after inspection. I never expected that. It’s never happened before.

It's a balmy 28° so I decided to uncork my longest ride of the year - almost 25 miles!

Also, I haven't looked, but any of yous below me on the leaderboard need to be hearing SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! ringing in your ears.

Ikr! Here in mi. There was a recent change in auto insurance laws pertaining to pip. I was sure I was getting screwed.
After my accident, my auto insurance carrier raised my premium substantially. I was furious. I had some harsh words with my local office, things were adjusted. Life goes on. But I was still angry about it.
So when this P.i.p thing came about I was sure I was in for it. I didn't want to go with lower coverage. My accident proved to me I would have been bankrupt had it not been for the coverage I had.
The new law goes into effect next billing cycle. And my insurance is going down $500.00 a year! You coulda knocked me over with a feather!

You could root for the Saints since my wife was born in the Big Easy. If you need an excuse.

I don't care if they are. They don't occupy area airtime for a dumb team.

Nice day today, if a little cloudy. Did a mostly Z1-2 ride of 50 miles. One spot on the ride felt really 'picture-squee', as we say in my family.

The vegetation is doing it's annual mad rush to sprout, grow, have sex, and die before it dries out again.

Mrs datlas and I went on a hike this afternoon. Halfway through our walk, a couple came by walking in the opposite direction. I gave a friendly hi and waved. The wife smiled and waved, but the husband gave us a dirty look and said "Vietnam is THAT way" and pointed in a direction off the path.

I ignored them, but part of me wanted to get in his face like Robert DeNiro in Taxi driver...."you talking to ME?" style.

Probably best that I did not do that, but people full of hate need to keep it to themselves and/or go back under the rock they came from.

p.s. mrs datlas is Korean, in case people don't know
