Oh dear, my old anxiety is back!

I haven't ridden a bike (or trike) since Memorial day. I'm getting ready to go out right now but it's taking all of the courage that I can muster to do it. I'll let you know how it goes.

Hey, it's just like riding a bike. You'll only fall a few times.

I know you can overcome this anxiety - I would have it also, given your past experiences. Good luck, and you are in my thoughts.

If you still have not found the cause of your recent physical issues, I can certainly understand your concern.

I'm anxious to read how your ride went.

The ride went great. I rode 10 miles on a MUT, no hills, kept up a good pace and didn't push anything. I felt fine the whole way. I'm still not out-of-the-woods. I've got borderline emphysema so when I start to exert myself I can't catch my breath. I'm kind of thinking that I'm going to be able to ride but that my sprint finish and KOM days are over. I can learn to live with that.

Afterward Mrs Grouch wasn't so happy. Our last couple of rides on the Kettweisel train haven't gone well. She's afraid that I won't want to ride with her anymore. I can't fit a Kett into the Element along with my SWB, Her Kett won't fit into her car, and we've sold her Greenspeed. She's afraid she won't get any opportunities to ride. Every silver lining has it's cloud.

Our plan is to take the Ketts out tomorrow but to ride them independently. We'll see how that goes.

RG,
I'm glad the day's ride went well, the anxiety can be crippling if it gets a hold of you. With the slow recovery from your crash and the pain I'm sure things can get scarey for you. Please be careful of the emphysema, don't push things or get into an anxiety issue from it. The transport issue can be solved, I'm sure. Mrs. Grouch concern may be a part of your anxiety, maybe talking that one out will help. Best of luck and best wishes for both of you.

Bill

Good.

Now, what about a roof rack for the vehicles to fit the trike on?

Just for giggles, ride individually for a spell and then hook-up and let Mrs. Grouch be the engine and you try being the caboose.

Just a thought.

Took the Ketts back out to Creve Coeur Park and rode 10 miles independently. Everything went quite well. No stress with Mrs. Grouch, speed a little slower than on the Rans SWB but, best of all, no physical symptoms. We decided to do some more independent riding before we try hitching the Ketts into a train again.

Sounds much better RG, just glad that you were not haunted with the anxiety for the ride. Hope you and Mrs. Grouch have many more rides together without any of the fears.

Retro,
If you get a case of borderline emphysema, I'm wondering if you might have had a case of bronchitis that you weren't used to getting before and didn't recognize as such.
