Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I didn't check this out in detail, but I like the red touches the owner added (I think it's tape?) to the seatpost and seatstays:

^Agree it's kind of JA to leave that wheel unlocked, but maybe it's slammed in the dropouts.

If that is a real 808, it would be worth more than the rest of the bike right?

Essentially.
Zipp has a prebuilt 808 tubular track for $1300 sans tax. Custom laced 808 clincher *starts* at $1200 sans tax on wheelbuilder.

Even with a bike shop insider hook up, it's still half of that at least.

It's only a couple bones at alibaba though.

Tl;dr spead weaponry is not cheap, nor is enve, nor lightweight.

That thing looks ridiculous.

That Merckx is pretty ****ing cool though. And the apehanger bike is sweet too. I have two of those Schwinn frames in my garage, that i think I'm gonna have to leave behind when I roll out to Cali. One has an awesome springer fork. kinda bums me out.
