Thanks! Getting that bike in good riding shape was a long, frustrating process. There were some frame/fork issues. I have it tracking straight now, and can ride it hands free. The rear wheel is my first ever complete rebuild.

Get on that GT! I've read that they are very nice riding bikes.

It is Cookeville TN. I don't know anything about it other than I like it. We were driving across the country and stopped in at a local brewery to unwind after a long day on the road. Drove by it on the way back to the hotel.

Thanks. I almost moved to that general area instead of where I am now. I still think about it from time to time.
I know I enjoyed my visits to Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga anyway.
How's the day-to-day cycling in the surrounding small town countryside there?

On a 37 mile club ride out thru Somis, there is a llama and alpaca farm that we pass by all the time, but I never stop for pictures. Today, I did. Also, stopped by another bike shop going out of business, and they have a '70s Grand Prix for sale cheap. Too big for me, nice shape though, and I'm on my second Super Course.

Chilling in the shade, as we ride out in the hot sun.

My '73 Super Course.

Vintage Grand Prix for sale.

The old Raleigh is here, another bike shop closes. Sad.

One of the things I enjoy most about cycling is you interact with your surroundings at a much lower and intimate level than breezing along at 60 mph in a car. An example is this marker found along a frequently ridden route. Happened to stop to swig some water, noticed this just off the north side in the weeds. Didn't seem to be a survey benchmark so took a pic to perhaps research later. Turns out it is a right-of-way marker associated with an inter-urban light rail line between Ann Arbor and Chelsea, MI from the late 1800's to about 1929. It ran adjacent to what is now Jackson Rd, on the north side of the road. I guess cycling can be educational as well.

1977 Peugeot PY 10

Bought new in 1978....I've had this ever since..Since my age has caught up I had to use a more raised Stem and convert to Bar ends...

Vintage MAVIC COSMIC Wheelset still runs true and smooth..

In the Quad Cities this weekend.

Government Bridge, near the gate to the Rock Island Arsenal.

Awesome double-decker swing bridge. Trains on top/cars on bottom.

My non vintage Garmin on my '78 Raleigh Super Course on today's Pasadena vintage ride.

I usually think my Garmin runs about 10° high, but today I was inclined to believe it.

Time for a break.

Powerade and pizza, mostly downhill ride home, life is good!

First ride with home-shellacked bars. Added a second tape layer to the upper bar, then shellacked the whole thing over the past couple nights.

Feels fine, and no slipperiness or loss of grip. It'll probably help keep the tape separation/fraying down and of course provide some protection against fading for awhile. I did the Bianchi's bars with a couple passes, too, and will do a test run with it tomorrow. I might do them all, if for no other reason than for the preservation angle.

Thank you to @rootboy for the idea, shellac flakes, Senna T-shirt, and shellacking tutorial

Just Another Commute Shot

Some mornings are just so nice here that I bring my camera to work; just to capture some of the beauty I see during my morning commute. Here's a shot of my Peugeot commuter bike on the bridge to Raspberry Island:

I can't believe Autumn is already here. This Summer has gone by so fast, I'm surprised that all my photos aren't blurred! Well, we still have the turning leaves to look forward to...

There is a set of radio towers I've ridden by where my wireless odo would end up with max speed over 200mph. It happened more than once.
