Here's another example I just saw. This is a side road though, not a residential or commercial driveway. Same principle applies. BTW, difficult to see in the photo but the bikeway is about 3" above the side road so someone driving towards here from the side road will have a slight speed bump as they approach the bikeway. It's not a huge bump but enough to kind of say "in case you forgot, there's something here that you should be cautious about". Dutch drivers aren't really any better than U.S. drivers, but Dutch Traffic Engineers are.

Usually I don't bump old threads, but you'd think by now governments would figure out permalinks.
MassDOT Separated Bike Lane Planning Guide - semi-permanent link?
And since the street views of Western Ave were WIP, revisit to show how things turned out:
Salmon delivery
Two on bikes, gives you an idea how narrow.
Also how narrow it is. Not wanting to pick on these good folks, but the dancing sandwich board is accurate. Some days it's blocking the crosswalk, some days it's partly in the bike lane, and some days its placed ok. (Flower pots move less often.) In general, street furniture is placed very close to the lane.
Streetview didn't catch trash days. Post pickup has improved though.
The separated bikeways on Beacon Street in Somerville and Commonwealth Ave in Boston are still WIP.
