Also, the Edge allows you to specify the number of fields on the display while using it, I'm sure the Cyclo does too. Maybe just have it show one or two things so you can actually read them.

ppl tend to speak up about negative things more then positive... I don't have a lot of negative things to say about my Edge1000 so far either. It's been a hell of a lot my consistent then my Edge 810.

I wonder why it didn't happen on the first two rides? Any idea what the circumference setting should be? I can try that if I see it again. It's not the end of the world since Strava fixes it anyway and that's pretty much what I use. But if it continues to happen I will probably contact Magellan about a replacement then.

I am in the process of having a custom sport touring frame built up, and am considering the Garmin Edge 1000. I want to get this thing, but after reading the atrocious reviews it gets, I am having a hard time justifying it. On my road and mountain bike, I have/had the old fashioned cat-eye, etc, computers. I will be doing mostly local rides at first, but want to get into Randonneuring, and some light touring.
Is there anybody, anywhere out there, that has anything good to say about this thing. Thank you.

I don't have one, but I will say that Garmin has a history of this. The first releases of all of their cycling products are full of bugs, but over the course of the next year they will come out with a series of firmware updates that will fix it.

So last night I had a different problem. My ride seemed to record fine, but after I performed a sync, the data showed up correctly on the Cyclo site but the numbers were off on Strava. The mileage was higher and the average speed was like 25 mph!
I'm going to give it another week or so, but if I keep getting these weird problems I may just return it and go back to my Garmin 500. I really wanted the mapping feature of the Cyclo but I can't have my data being inconsistent. I refuse to pay what Garmin wants for their product.

Saw the distance issue again this weekend. If 4.1 does not come out soon and if it doesn't fix the issue I'm returning my unit. I only hope they will give me my money back.

Curious. Is the distance like slightly off or is it way off? And is that the only issue you're having? Thanks.

I haven't had success with downloading a gpx file to the device and having it follow it very well. But I admit, I've only tried it once so far.

Yeah, that would be very annoying and a deal-killer. My concern is that Magellan doesn't seem very concerned with the US market if a patch is available but only made available to Europe. Kinda tells you where they place their priority. The device itself looks great but I'm still hesitant at this point.

Does anyone have any new news on a update for the 505? I want to buy one this weekend but like everyone else has voiced... I would like the garmin sensors. Any recommendations on the best place to buy the unit and sensors?

Ah now I see the confusion. My posts are about the Magellan 505, not the Garmin 1000.
