I think part of what turns people off from it, and a lot of other more modern, conceptual art, is that the craftsmanship aspect of the work is diminished or entirely eliminated in many cases. It can be like the difference between a piece of artisan hand-crafted antique furniture and this:
in warhol's case, i don't think craftsmanship was really his primary concern. he wanted to replicate the mass production of media using similar techniques within his art.

^^ Yeah, definitely agree with you there. I'm not that big on Warhol's print stuff, but I've seen some of his photography that I found really cool.
Today I hit up the track after being lazy for the past couple weeks. Small group, so we focused on timed 500s and kilos, which was interesting. My splits were fairly even and consistent, as compared to guys with more sprint power who started off fast and then fizzled a bit. Main takeaway was that all of our standing starts suck.

today i did a little experiment. rode my 11 mile
loop i do daily. first lap i did with a 10mm spacer underneath the stem. averaged 17.8mph. pulled over and slammed the stem. averaged 20.1 the next lap. this is as close to science as i've got. btw...i was about as comfortable on both laps.

imo, it has way more to do with comfort/power transfer over aerodynamics. i can't speak for everyone else, but i'm able to be much more powerful / efficient when i'm longer and lower.

it was as close to science as i could get. same weather conditions, same closed loop, basically same time
of day. i thought about being warmed up the 2nd lap and i'm not saying i wasn't, but i was also more
dehydrated. i started the ride out strong and by the start of the 2nd lap i was almost outta water.
it wasn't meant to be an end-all, but it was interesting data nonetheless.

heart rate and/or power is a good tool for tests like that.
When it's go fast time, I use my Venge Expert with carbon wheels, an Evade and Bontrager carbon aero road bars.
But I prefer to ride my TCR Advanced with an alloy wheelset (Hed Belgium/DT Swiss/Ptap), different drop bars and lightweight road helmet - much more comfortable.
All I know is that setup #1 is definitely faster during a hot lap around Fiesta Island (4.1 mi.) at a given power.

Finally getting back to normal after Hurricane Irma came through. Haven't been able to really ride at all since last Friday. While cleaning up downed limbs and trees in the neighborhood, I sliced my palm open on a machete. No insurance means I had to fix it up myself. I was a Paramedic for about 7 years, so luckily I *kinda* know what I am doing. lol.
I rode easy yesterday to work, and it wasn't great. Can't grip the bars very well, which inhibits control a lot. My 2nd Crit race is next Saturday and I don't know if I will be healed up enough by then.

At the very least, you can stay involved+show support by volunteering, or even just cheering at the sidelines and otherwise hyping it up. I'm big on volunteering at local race events of all disciplines.

Today about a thousand close friends and I went on a bike ride.
I did 68 miles @ 18 MPH with 3200 feet climbing.
Watching some of the riders reminded me that just because someone can pedal a bike fast doesn't mean they know how to handle one properly.
About 10 miles in I hooked up with a group of really smooth riders - proper hand signals, didn't drop kick when standing to climb, very steady when reaching for a bottle, worked well together and took turns. It's always a treat to ride in a group of mentally mature, experienced riders.
Great SAG and amazing rest stops, police stopping traffic at all the major intersections, BBQ chicken and two kinds of pasta at the end of the ride... A red letter day.

today, after being kinda lazy the first part of the week, i was able to finish the week with 172+ miles. if all goes as planned, i'll hit 5,000mi for the year around mid-week. closing in on 2,000mi on the mr.pink, also.

Last race of the road season today, got 10/51. I felt pretty good the whole race, but I took an unnecessary pull for an entire lap and I didn't have enough in the tank for the final sprint.
Went and climbed with a couple friends afterwards and got 3860ft elevation in. I ate breakfast at 615 before driving to Oakland and didn't have time to eat anything until when I got back to school around 330 and it definitely shows looking back at the power data. Still had fun tho
