Lezyne Mega GPS - 48 -32 runtime!
How the dickens does Lezyne manage to produce a mapping GPS that runs 48 -32 hours. No manufacturer produces that kind of runtime ever. The newest Garmin 1030 will do 15hrs - so will the wahoo.

yes, that's very impressive. GPS requires a lot of calculations, so that's where most of the energy goes. I wondered if they figured something out that others haven't. I would give up a little accuracy for battery life, but others might not. Also moving the map is power intensive

Are you guys talking about 48 hours (lezyne) and 15 hours (garmin) with the screen lit or does it shut off the screen to conserve battery power?
I'm sincerely asking out of ignorance.

If this is anything like my Lezyne Super GPS, it lacks a detailed live color map - something that most (maybe all) Garmin units DO have. I think that helps battery life.

these do have mapping. I am waiting for someone that rides long distances to report back.
Garmin turns off the backlight after an interval. I set mine to stay on, but I always have it hooked up to an external battery. I'm not sure it really hurt the battery life much when I changed it though, I have ridden with no backup and it seemed to last about as long as it did with the backlight only on for 45 seconds.

Bryton is also getting similar battery life on their units. I think this is good. Garmin needs to be knocked down a notch. They are gouging us with the price of their GPS units.
