Which CO2 inflator?
I used to have a PDW Shiny Object CO2 inflator. It was a work or art and a very nice CO2 inflator to use. I've since lost it during a house clearout and now cannot find another one for sale in the UK.
So, is there a good quality CO2 inflator out there that is easy to use, comes with a sleeve for the CO2 cartridge and has a regulator valve on it?
The nearest I've found is a Lezyne unit: a Lezyne Control Drive CO2.

Planet Bike makes a good one that threads onto 12 or 16 gm CO2 cartridges and has a valve that makes controlling the CO2 flow easy. Here is Amazon's listing:

I don't know if Amazon UK sells them or if your bike shop can get one but it works very well. I use my riding glove as an insulator around the cartridge when inflating with it.

I got this one. Has worked fine for me and has a great rating. The company is very responsive and seems to take pride in selling a quality product.

True, the unthreaded cartridges in a plastic inflator housing are cheaper but threaded cartridges are more secure in the nozzle and take up less space and weight on the bike. Threaded cartridges don't have to cost the absurd $3 or $4 each the bike shops charge if you buy in larger quantities. I got a box of 20 16gm threaded cartridges from Amazon for $25 delivered and they sell a package of 30 for $30. Buy in quantity and split the cost with a couple of friends.

I have two Lezyne Control Drives-- one in my wife's saddlebag, and one on my road bike. Never had a single problem with either one.
Shame about your Shiny Object, OP. That's what lives in the bag on my gravel bike. My favorite inflator. If your local shop carries Lezyne, see if they can get you a Control Drive-- same exact setup as the PDW-- and pretty much all of the Lezynes come with a sleeve.

Meanwhile, I’ve located a Lezyne Control Drive locally and that looks to be a similar design to the PDW so I’ll see if I can pick that up later today.

Earlier this year my six-year old Genuine Innovations inflator blow out an O-ring, rendering it useless. Most people were amazed not that it broke, but that it have not lost it after all that time.
I replaced it with a ... PDW Shiny Object. Love it. Look harder for it!

I have the park tool version from their multi tool line and a xlab nanoflator. I like them both but I really like how simple and small the park tool one is.

The one time I've used my PDW shiny object...I was glad I bought it! What an impressive CO2 inflator that is, no leaks and it was almost too simple to use. BUT they need to engrave the directional arrow onto the knob, the silkscreen has worn off from bouncing around in my seat bag. I just leave it closed, so I'm safe...
Agree on buying threaded 16g CO2 cartridges on amazon/ebay. $30/30 seems to be common, find other cyclists to split them with. I don't get flats often, so even if I have to pay a few bucks...I don't worry about it.
