1984 Masi GC - Original
Here's another one. Hard for me to establish a reasonable price, since it hits most of my nostalgia buttons. Mild rust, some bubbling under the paint on the seat stays, but otherwise looks like a stellar bike.
I'd be okay paying $1200 for this. Am I nuts (either high or low)?

I don’t think that price is out of line but the seat stay gives me pause, and I am a “home for misfits bikes” kind of guy. I would want to take a close look for more rust; look inside the seat tube. I might use that to negotiate the price lower.

I recommend that you be careful unless you intend to strip it completely and sand blast before a full repaint. The blistering shows that the rust has migrated under the paint and will continue to propagate.

Yes I think that is too high for a late model GC with "issues". I think $900 or so would be more reasonable.

Agreed the blistering is a sign of potential rust gremlins. This would be a rider (not wall art), but there are many other options out there.
I'll give this one a miss, especially since it is a California Masi and (in my eyes) not as desirable as those from the Italian workshop.
Thanks for the input!!
