1955ish Hercules Lady's Tourist
Howdy! This little lady came out of the local landfill. I am just cleaning and greasing, so my kid can ride it to school. The bike was almost totally complete when I found it, save the front fender. I added the headlight and bell. Rear hub is stamped "B Type 4", and it has the pre-Raleigh, Birmingham head badge. It had the Dunlop tires on it. These are three good reasons to think it is a mid-50's machine.
I am not an expert by any means, but this is the only Hercules Tourist I have seen with chrome fenders and a chrome chain guard featuring ornate painted logo.
Does anyone know where to get a chrome fender? I want one that matches the rear, so it needs the little ridge in the center.
Also, can anyone add some precision on the date of manufacture and model? Rear stay is stamped 12031TU.
I can't add a picture; page says I can't post a URL until I have 10 posts, but this picture is not a URL.

This little lady is ready to roll! Handmade in Birmingham, England in 1955 she was sold to an American by Montgomery Wards Department Store. Not ridden much she still had the original tires when recovered from a landfill 63 years later. Most of the mechanics were in great shape; new cables, some grease, a modern seat and lights, and she was ready for the road. All I need now is an original front fender, and she will be rolling fine for the next six decades.
