Guy rode straight into a stationary object, at such a speed that he damaged it and died.

It couldve been a baby in a pram.

I don't see what part of these two scenarios you're struggling with, Rachel.

Could have been a stack of folding chairs or a bigfoot. Makes absolutely no difference whatsoever. The guy was riding too fast for conditions. In the post-event analysis, what he hit is irrelevant.

I don't see what part of these two scenarios you're struggling with, Rachel.
Because there wouldn't have been a baby in a stroller on that road. Therefore the cyclist would be acting as part of high speed traffic, not as part of a trail where there are pedestrians. The parallel in your example would have been cars needing to drive on that stretch of road as if they were sharing it with pedestrians, which is a ridiculous scenario.
