Serial Number Database
Hello bike builders!
I'm looking for some information on a bike manufacturer that I can't seem to find anywhere online. I recently picked up an old Mountain Tour Canyon Runner frame on Kijiji and built it into a single-speed urban commuter for a friend. It was originally a rigid 18-speed mountain bike with Shimano Tourney components (here's one of the few pics I can find online of the model I have https://www.stephanelapointe.com/velo...7_102_5770.jpg), but it now looks more like your average hipster single-speed. All I know about it is that the frame seems to have come in both men's and women's styles, and that it may have been made in Canada. I've looked around, but can't seem to find much else on this bike. I'm hoping to learn more about where was it manufactured, what year, average retail price... That kind of stuff. Any estimates of its new worth would also be appreciated.
Here it is, all finished (except the front wheel now has a new tube...)
Serial number: 11009148
Please let me know if you have any information!

Looks to be a low end department store private label bike from the early 90's likely made in Tawain. In real good shape ready to ride bikes like these are only worth about $75-100. As presented SS/FG I would put the value at $150 which I know is likely less than you spent on the nice single speed build.

Mountain Tour was a brand owned by Zeller's, a Canadian department store chain. Their bicycles were very low end and contract manufactured by various sources. The brand only goes back to 1995, so it is no older than late 1990s. The serial number may provide a clue to the actual age and manufacturer.

Thanks! I figured the department store angle was a good bet. Can definitely tell it is low-end!
