let's do a century ride!

so i have a feeling that my 2 friends that are even more casual rider than me will be flaking on doing a century this month of november. (one of them went with me on a 65 mile ride last monday and he was dying already.)

anyway, i haven't done a century since february. so i wanna do one again before this year ends. definitely don't wanna go solo. so im wondering if who else here might be interested.

gotta make it a sunday though since i work saturday. i don't work mondays as well but im sure most of you do.

i'll leave the route planning to you guys since i have a bad sense of direction.

so anybody interested in a group century?

my standards for a century isn't pretty high. 8hrs to complete including breaks. IIRC, i believe last time it took me 7 hrs including lunch and breaks.

I was thinking about do the Pie Ride members used to do several years ago. You can find the thread here. It's kind of hilly though.

i might be interested, i'm in noho
where in the valley are you?
how hilly/flat do you want to make it?
sunday works for me, mostly.
do you want to start from the valley? i hate driving to rides and don't mind riding to and from the start for a few extra miles
thanksgiving weekend not good for me
a friend and i have a ride planned (no date set) for sfv to mojave and back, 150 to 180 miles but you can make it a century by catching the metrolink train in lancaster. the only caveat is that the last train is at 3:15 on sunday, saturday has a train at 6:30 as well.

I may be interested, but don't want to drive too far to ride so I'm going o play this one by ear to see where it goes.
I'm located in middle OC and a rather mediocre climber (2 hrs to hit Baldy Village).
My time is flexible. Would you guys be interested in a OC to San Diego? Or even a SART-Canyons-PCH type tour?

I'm riding a century later this month, but can't/won't on Sunday. That's my "day of rest". A day for church going, brunch at a local dinner afterward, then goofing off the rest of the day. I'll probably make the Santa Clarita to Ventura run over the Thanksgiving four-day weekend.

im fine starting in the valley. im in mission hills.

i dunno ab out the sfv to mojave... that's a little too much for me plus, i don't wanna stress out about the train ride times.

here's relatively easy 100 from mission hills. it's a little over 100, but that's easy to adjust in the oxnard portion to get right to 100 if you want.

another option:
this is the flattest i could think of:

I am in LA. I would be intersted but my average pace is 10-12mph. I just did the Solvang Prelude metric century (hilly) and including lunch and rest stops and flat tire, it took me a little more than 8 hours to do 63 miles. So if you are willing to get a very early start and have a non drop policy and stay at my pace I would do it. There's safety in numbers. You would have to plan on 12 hours with breaks.

seems like you're even more casual than me.

i'll see how it goes. i really wanna do another century before the year ends so yeah, if my friends flake out. let's go. i'd rather ride a 10-12mph century than no century at all.

Check out PCH Randos. They've got a couple centuries left this year.
