You are correct about the Schwinn stem, proceed with caution, they can go for really stupid $$$ on efbay, I mean really stupid.

Just as a point of interest - googling "Juy 543" does not bring up anything to do with Simplex derailleurs. Not even the same continent.

I'm guessing the Juy 543 was originally being saved for the Rotrax, as OBrentharris had suspected was the spec for that bike.

Or possibly was on it originally and then pulled off for that other thing that was on it.
