OK, that makes sense. Glad to know it's fairly common among the folks here. Thanks.
Also: I'm surprised no one came to the obvious comments about drinking too much. Well done.
CDR: Congrats on Jr.

There should be a warning label on the toilet paper they have in the bathrooms at my office.

Any of y'all have issues with blackouts when you get up from sitting for a while? I've been experiencing this with increasing frequency recently. It's only vision, and every now and then, light-headedness/dizzynes. It seems to happen regardless of whether I've been eating or drinking recently. Never lasts long, just a few seconds, but it hits pretty strongly sometimes.
When we ride a lot we end up with 1) low blood volumes - chronic dehydration and 2) low blood pressures. The extent to which these are related/the same thing, I'm not sure. But the effect of both are seen when we stand quickly - blackouts/whiteouts/fainting. When there's low blood volume/pressure our body's mechanisms are much less effective and maintaining blood return to the brain. Brain doesn't get blood = pass the f*ck out.

FYI, alcohol has two effects. Primarily, it dehydrates you - see all the above. It is also suppresses your nervous system, which I would imagine decreases the effectiveness of part (2) of above.

I was talking to my cardiologist about this. He said with the other heart stuff I've got going on that it's just going to be part of life. He joked, "With your BP (105/75), I'm surprised you don't feel like this all the time." He also said, "Don't change a thing, just be careful when you stand up."

I've started adding Maca powder to my oatmeal and recovery shakes. I read a paper that says "Maca powder makes cyclist faster and hornier". I don't know about the faster bit, but I'll be damned if the other thing ain't true. I'm not particularly lacking in this regard, but I have noticed a difference. It's kinda funny.

I've officially been diagnosed with orthostatic hypotension and sinus bradycardia (aka low blood pressure and slow resting heart rate). Hr is in the high 40's and bp is in the low 40's like 104/42. Confirmed via a 12 lead and a tilt table test.
When standing up, especially if I'm dehydrated the lightheaded feeling and tunnel vision comes around. BP and HR are both low causing the noggin's blood demand to not be fully met due to gravity for a few seconds. Keeping the fluids topped up and having a sugary snack around prevents it for me. You should definitely talk with your Dr. if you start conking out.
Oddly enough, found all this out when taking my dad to the hospital for day surgery on a Monday after a race weekend several years ago. It was 5:30 AM and I was with him in the room when he was told to change. Stood up to walk out and good night. Woke up a few seconds later to "CODE PURPLE - GI HOLDING" and about 5 people standing over me. Got admitted because of that The next day after having a 12 lead, cardiac echo, stress test and a tilt table test I was told that a. there is nothing wrong and b. because my heart beats occasionally to be careful standing up.

Interesting that the low RHR is worthy of a diagnosis. No doctors have ever said anything about mine. I guess that sitting on an exam table, I'm usually up in the high 40s if I haven't ridden that day, so maybe not alarming. I have had nurses wake me in the middle of the night during hospitalization though.

I can get into the low 40s or even high 30s sometimes. I've been asked if I run which is hard for them to figure when they see I'm kinda fat.
I've had more than one doctor ask me if there is heart disease in my family. I always tell them all the men in my family die from cancer long before they are old enough for heart disease. They don't think it's funny for some reason.

I get dull body aches that persist for days at a time. I've come to understand it's from ligaments tightening. Like when I don't ride for a few days, my IT band gets super tight and causes quite a bit of pain for me. So I've begun stretching all the places I typically get these aches.
Right now it's my shoulder. And it's really annoying.

It's pretty embarssing when I get up to go to the bathroom at work (usually after sitting an hour or two), get dizzy and can't see anything but black but still walking towards the bathroom anyways. Then of course someone wants to talk to me, but I can't see them and I'm about to pass out and it's really awkward.
