Finally! Sunny & warm enough to open up with windows in the house. Seems like it's been months. Might even be warm enough to wear shorts while riding this weekend. My tan lines have been fading!

How’s the knee, Horse?
managed to ride all 3 bikes this week as well as a spin bike in a hotel out in Virginia. Not sure being on the trainer is a good thing, but needs must; I couldn’t get off work until late late Monday and then traveling again

did two easy trainer rides Thursday and Friday and a nice 50 miler down the river trail yesterday. Knee was a little stiff after but good enough! Will probably keep it easy all week because Saturday I’ll be chasing Jsigone all day. From way back, I reckon.

I assume by "doing" you mean "finishing"... we'll see! LOL. It's supposed to be rainy on Saturday, really not looking forward to that. I mean, I have a little rain gear but not "ride 200 miles in the rain" rain gear.
Oh boy. @tunavic is also riding it with another friend of his, so there is apparently lunacy in spades around here.

what time are you going to toe the starting line. Its a 3mile pedal to the start, get timed chip started and ride back towards the hotel.

I think vic wants to start at 4... I suggest you start later, catch us and then you can relax with us for a while till you get bored and take off.
Can't decide which bike to take. I think my lower back would be happier with the Roubaix, my ass would be happier with the Gan if only because I'd get done quicker. Hm.

For the distance I’d take the comfy bike. That said I’ll be on the Pinarelo. I want it over as soon as possible haha. I’ll sacrifice comfort for speed almost any day of the week. My CX rig with its 38c tires are good 2-3mph slower and more watts. More watts isn’t good for my newly achy right knee. I think the cleat is out of alignment or something stupid like that.
I hope to leave the hotel at 530am so that really means 615 haha

forecast says mostly dry but 16mph NW winds on Saturday. The first century will be a ***** from Solvang to Morro Bay, the 2nd century will be faster pending how dead the legs are.

Non omnino gravis
I'm kinda making an effort not to ride 100 miles in one shot this year. I've ridden just a single imperial century with company (the wife for our 25th) so every other one has been solo. It turns into a real mental game, and I don't much care for it. I don't have a day over ~80 miles (and that ride was a lunch date with the wife, so it's really a 50 miler, a 90 minute lunch, and a 30 mile ride home) or more vertical than 3,000ft in 2019, and frankly it's great. Usually at ~95k feet for the year by today, I'm barely above 70k for this year.
Also super glad I didn't pay to do the Plain Wrap ride out here in Redlands this past Saturday. Rode the 63 mile route for free this morning to test out the TBT on my Elemnt Bolt (which worked perfectly) and that course was garbage. There are a lot of really nice places to ride in the IE, and that route basically didn't go to any of them. They have the same guy doing the routes every year, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Same reason I skipped Strada Rossa this year as well. Look at the RWGPS file in advance, and didn't care for it. That day got rain bucketed on it, so I doubly glad I sat it out.

Looks like the wind will be non existent to start the day, peaking at 18 mph from the NW at about 4 pm, which works out nearly perfectly.
I think it will be wet and sloppy to start so I'll probably bring the Roubaix for that reason alone. Sturdier wheels and more endurancey tires too. I doubt it's actually much slower, I just tend to sit up more on that bike.

Take both bikes. Is it your daughter who goes to SLO? Drop the Gan with her and have her meet you at the Madonna Inn, that's just past halfway, then change bikes. Spread the pain over your body! The stuff that hurts on the Roubaix will get a break and the stuff that hurts on the Gan has almost 100 miles to start hurting!

Yeah, she's at SLO and ironically, she's hitching a ride home Friday for Spring break so she won't even be there for the bike swap idea.

Oh well, it was a heckuva good idea! I've ridden almost all of the route from AG/Oceano north and west out to Morro Bay. Pity it doesn't go into MB proper and then exit out the state park, I always like that area, but I suppose it would slow you road warriors down. And I'd be hard pressed to ride thru MB without stopping for a fish taco.

1.5 more miles into Morro gets some good clam chowwwwder and beer. (97-98mile point) official lunch stop isn't til 108

wish ALL paid to ride venue should have food like this. Easier to get the cal count we need with better food
CP#1 (double and 200K) - Muffins/cinnamon rolls, clif bars, fig bars, variety of granola/energy bars.
CP #2 (double only) - PB&J sandwiches, fig bars, pop-tarts, sweet & salty granola bars, snack cracker variety, and more.
CP #3 (double only) - Subway sandwiches, chips, cookies, soda, variety of granola/energy bars.
CP #4 (double and 200K) - PB&J sandwiches, trail mix, peanut butter pretzels, variety of granola/energy bars, soda, chocolate candies, brownie bites.
