Crank set

I have to purchase a shimano crankset to fit my NEW S5 Cervello. Will a RF-R565 Crank fit a Shimano BBright?

Congratulations, you just bought into what is essentially a proprietary "standard". It is marketed as:
BBright™ is a new bottom bracket dimensional standard. BBright™ is the only bottom bracket standard that allows an oversized bottom bracket axle (30mm diameter) and oversized chainstay (79 mm), seat and down tubes (11mm wider). This is the optimum combination of dimensions for the best structural efficiency of the crank and frame system."

Optimum until it time to buy a bottom bracket and crankset. No the crankset won't work. You need one that is for a bottom bracket shell width of 79 mm (the BBright "standard"). The FC-R656 is for a standard 68/70 mm width bottom bracket.

A standard 68 mm Hollowtech II crankset will fit in the BBright Bottom bracket, and there is no FC-R656 crank set made by Shimano, Egg.

I won't contest your 1st criticism - you may or may not be correct. That is the fun of these "standards". As to your 2nd criticism, you are correct in that there is no FC-R656. In my defense I only repeated the OP, where I should have asked whether they meant a Shimano FC-R565. Notice the transposed numbers; it happens to all of us except maybe you.

I suggest the OP visit the BBright FAQ page at BBright?

Might find correct answer rather than the apparently incomplete/misleading answers found on this forum. Good luck and truly hope you enjoy your bike once you get it set up like you want.

re-read your own post.... then look up the real answer yourself.

the BBright BB assy. accepts a standard HT2 crank set, egg.... and the OP even confirms this fact, on the other thread.

oh, and my post wasn't "criticism", it is the truth.

Whatever. I learned something by reading the BBright FAQ. I just recommended the OP might find it useful also. Glad to know that you already knew all the answers.
