Misaligned brakes

I noticed today when adjusting my bike's brakes that using the rear brakes actually caused the top part of my rear wheel to slightly bend to the left.

Could this have un-trued my wheels? It's an Easton Vista.

What should I do? Other than adjust the brakes (which I have).

What bike and what brakes? Sounds like your brake is misaligned. Look here for instructions.

Yep, I already put the brakes back into position. They're Tektros and there was a hex nut to adjust the angle of the braking assembly and I aligned it.

Glad you got it fixed. Bicycles are simple. Sometimes too simple.

Would you expect the rear wheel however to be untrue? I tried eyeballing it .... is that a good enough test?

I had a brake issue where one side would rub and was worried about the wheel being true and discovered the rear wheel was not center in the rear mounts. Loosed the rear wheel, recentered, and all was good.

YES.
Just spin the wheel and watch the rim near the brake calipers.
Or, use your finger, or a pen as a reference point.

That is pretty much all truing does, and many people have successfully trued wheels on the bike.

Your wheel should be pretty resistant to a small twist.

Consider the forces on wheel during a hard standing hill climb when you're weaving the frame back and forth.
