Gear Change for DS3
I have a DS3 that I am looking into the idea of changing to a more road type gearing. I can not afford an upgrade to a complete road bike, so asking to see if anyone has done this and if it cost effective. I usually ride 30-50 miles every time I ride.

If you have a triple with a 46-48t big ring, a 12-28 cassette will give you the small jumps that are better suited for road riding.
For a 36t big ring, an 11-28 cassette would be good.
Smooth rolling tires are just as important also for road riding.

First of all, thanks for the response. Couple questions though. I haven’t looked at what my cassette is on my bike currently, Will the 12-28 give me some additional top end speed?? Also, what else will need to be changed to make a switch like this?

Your biggest front chainring is 48 tooth and the rear cassette is probably 11-34. I'm not 100% sure if you're looking for more speed or just fewer gaps between gears?
If you're want to have a tighter cassette and your choice between gears closer to each other you could try a 11/28 or possible a 11/25. How many gears on on the rear end you have?.
11/28 will not give you any more top end speed. You're limited by your 48 tooth front chainring and the smallest (11 tooth) cog in the rear.
