Best Bike Fitters Near Elgin Illinois

I am looking for people's experiences with bike fitters around Elgin Illinois. I am looking for a mid level bike fitt to try and make riding more comfortable because I have had some problems with my knees from riding, and I would like to squeeze a little more power from my legs as well. I would be willing to drive about an hour to a shop.

I've got one scheduled later this week. Several folks in the area have, though, and highly recommend Lucky Brake. The owner, Karrie, is a certified Specialized fit specialist (or whatever the title is they give out).

Did she used to work at the village pedaler in south Elgin or am I making that up? I might be haha. I'd appreciate it if you could let me know how it goes. Which package did you get?

Yes, that's the same Karrie. The Village Pedaler in Crystal Lake is now called Lucky Brake. Karrie's the owner and very cool to work with.

I did the BG Fit last night. Very thorough fitting session that took about 2 hours. I can tell that the adjustments made will make long rides more comfortable. Man, has my position been off for the last 7 years. Cleat placement, saddle height, saddle fore/aft position, and handlebars all got shifted around in fairly considerable ways.

I gotta thank Psimet for encouraging me to finally get the fit done.

Wheel Werks, with out a doubt.
My experience around here has been (certified) people just take measurements of you and then set up the bike to fit a formula.
Guy up there actually watches you spin, for a while. He'll have you leaving there pedaling strong and comfy.

Yeah I have an appointment at Lucky Brake for Feb 5th for a fitting. I hope she'll make some major changes.

Karrie is the best. Been working with her on projects for years now.

Even then it took me years to finally get around to getting a fit done. She's attained the highest level of accreditation through Specialized. I have been riding and racing since 1988 and while I was already VERY close I was still off. Her changes have made it completely night and day perfect.

I have heard great things about Bob over at wheelwerks as well. I have also heard some mixed reviews. Cyclepsycho on here has had a fit from him and then one from Karrie so he might be a good reference if you're interested.

I did the bike fitting at Lucky Brake in Crystal Lake, and it was very interesting. It was quick, easy, and I can already tell it made a huge difference. Carrie made changes that I would have never thought to make, but seemed to have helped. I did not feel rushed and she listened to everything I was saying and considered my goals and past problems. I highly recommend it.
