The article says he is a Software Engineer. That's all I need to see - hang him.

Not only a SW engineer but a Stanford CS grad. His social network commenting in the accident's immediate aftermath was very ill advised.

The judge is encouraging an out of court settlement and no trial as being in everyone's best interest.

Personally I never cross a street with out looking if things are clear first (esp in SF). I try to emulate a baserunner when ever I'm walking in an intersection...

Jeez, what would do to him if he was a lawyer? Have him drawn and quartered? Flayed alive? Forced to listen to 24 nonstop hours of Alvin & the Chipmunks?

In all seriousnees, he does not sound like a animal or a sociopath or any of the other choice epithets thrown his way. He screwed up, did something truly stupid, and someone died because of it. You go to prison for that, maybe for a substantial amount of time. Doesn't automatically make you a horrible person, though, just a person who made a horrible mistake. Sometimes, that's enough to incur serious consequences.

the caption under the picture reads: "Chris Bucchere, who will face felony manslaughter if convicted in the death of pedestrian Sutchi Hui, was a bike safety teacher in his spare time before to the incident."

The photo shows a rider without a helmet.
