L.L. Bean Hybrid

I know it's not classic or vintage, but the inhabitants of this forum have provided lots of great advice on my 1970s Peugeots, so I thought I'd give it a try:

I'm seeking information on an L.L. Bean "Acadia" hybrid (or "multi-terrain" as its decals proclaim ). I traded a $20 bill for it at a yard sale last Saturday mainly because it's fitted with brand new Serfas comfort saddle that my wife wants for her MTB.

At any rate, the bike appears to have been rarely ridden and I got the idea to throw some Freddy Fenders and Nashbar Townie (or similar) baskets on it to make a grocery getter. I'm wondering about the build quality of this bike and who might be behind the L.L. Bean decals. Is it worth keeping? Or is it a rebranded X-Mart bike?

Sorry I don't have a photo, but here are the details:

Shimano Altus C20 derailleurs, Gripshift
Araya 7000 PX-35 rims
Kenda 700x38 tires (dry rotted, of course)
Frame is marked "4130 Chrome-Moly" and "Made in China"
SN: P2JV03461

Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

I'm bumping this. I just saw an Acadia at the local Goodwill for 25 bucks. Looks rideable, and like its been in someone's basement for the last 15 years without being ridden. I happen to have some tires that would work. I'd like to play with the cantilever brakes a bit. Worth it? Or will the issues make the cost in time and parts too high?

Early Bean bikes were badge-engineered Cannondales but later ones were probably sourced elsewhere.

Yes, it was one of the only threads mentioning the Acadia. Bumped with knowledge aforethought.

thumpism, is there a corresponding model of Cannondale from the 2005 or so era?
The one I'm looking at has (apparently) a 4130 chromoly frame.
