Campagnolo freehub sounds

Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with either Campag Zonda or Scirocco wheels and how loud their free hubs are?

Mark

All depends on the lube you use. With a light grease on the pawls, they are pretty quiet. With light oil they are still not real loud.

My Zonda is surprisingly quiet for Campagnolo (previously had Athena and Chorus freehubs).

Seem lots of videos on utube and Zonda's all sound loud, but on forums most people say they are pretty muted!

It might be relative to what the reviewer is use to from previous products.

Also, some like a noisy free hub others don't. Coming from a relatively quiet Shimano free hub to a very noisy DT-Swiss free hub all I can say is it doesn't annoy me almost two years later as much as it did when I got it.

I mostly just consider it a reminder not to coast so much.

I've had several sets of Zonda / Racing 3 wheels -- they were all very quiet. The Sciroccos I had were not nearly as quiet.

A lot of Campag and Fulcrum wheels use the same free hub, which I would say is quieter than my Mavic Ksyriums were, but noisier than Shimano hubs seems to be. Personally, it doesn't bother me but YMMV.

There's a way to make a freehub quiet. Keep pedaling.

Kidding aside, I ride Zondas, a lot, I never notice the noise of the pawls.

I don't know why but I have a handful of older Campy wheels and some are silent and other aren't I prefer the quiet ones but I guess you get what you get.

Sorry, this is very poor advice. Not sure why people insist on trying to be smarter than the manufacturers and "fixing" stuff that's not broken.
